@AveryLove
I would tell myself that you shouldn't care what guys think about you becauseit has ruined your life so much that you don't even know what the real you is any more. So that is what I would tell my younger self about dating.
@tiger222 Me too!
@AveryLove
Think of dating like a job interview, if your goal is a relationship. You should be interviewing to see if this person is a good fit for you, if he will treat you right and respect you, if he really wants a relationship too. If you have concerns, look into that more deeply instead of explaining it away because you are attracted to him. If you find yourself making a lot of concessions for him, take that seriously--is he doing the same for you or is it more one-sided?
So many times I saw the red flags early on, but ignored them. So many times I actually told myself I deserved better, but didn't leave. That little voice was right all along, but I needed to listen to it.
@peacefulforest75 your point is really correct, you should always follow this little voice inside of you.
Don't, it's a waste of time, money, energy and it'll break your soul.
Get a pet.
@AlexandriaChapple03 pets are great substitutes!
@haphapz they are!
@AveryLove
Don't trust blindly and ignore signs of an unhealthy relationship because you fell in love with something about that person. If you're not happy in the relationship, get out of it because your mental health matters!
@Emirson2018 that's true! many times people hold onto unhealthy relationships without knowing they are in one.
@haphapz
or sometimes they know it's unhealthy, but they ignore the signs because they're in love with someone who's using their trust. That's what happened to me too, I was in love with my girlfriend and even though some things she did were obviously signs of an unhealthy, even abusive, relationship, I couldn't end it until months later because I loved her and kept hoping she would realize her mistakes and change, which never happened
@Emirson2018 that's really true! )-: it must have taken a lot of effort for you to come out of this!
@haphapz
it taught me a lesson though :)
@Emirson2018 worth it!
Just go for it and don't be afraid. Live your life! You're a smart girl, you know what's good and what is not, and you know when and how to leave in case you need to. And if they reject you, at least you'll know you've tried! Go for it and makd the best out of it!
@Aayla I totally agree I wish I was educated to be more confident and not to be afraid of it , time and experience then can teach you
Love open heartedly 💜
@Sameer7cups that's true, this probably involve trust as well!
What dating advice would you give your younger self?
1. Figure out who you are.
2. Listen and communicate, Communication is important
3. Listen to your gut.
Interesting topic! Something nice to reflect on, and something where we can see discussions that can help people learn from each other too :)
For me, I'd tell my younger self: don't settle, and set boundaries. Don't sacrifice sleep, priorities, and non-negotiables. They should be able to respect you and look out for your best welfare.
Don't change for anyone...until you find that person worth changing for. By then, it won't be change; it'll be GROWTH!
I would tell myself don't be gullible and not to trust shady behavior or behaviour that seems inconsistent / off
@YourBroFromTheOtherMo this is a really important piece of advice! never overlook something that doesn't feel right.
