Am I my husband's piggy bank?
My husband and I got married about 6 months ago, after a couple months of dating. When we were dating, he was honest about having credit cards debts in the couple thousands range. He promised he would work on paying those off asap and he has been. He has also gotten better about not spending frivolous amounts of money on unnecessary things but somehow, he manages to rack up credit card debts every other month and asks me for money to cover some of them. They're large amounts of money too, he'll ask me for $2500 to $5000 in one go. I have the money because I've been saving the past few months since I started working but that was for financial security and to pay off my own student loans, not to cover his monthly purchases. On one hand, he's asking me for $1000 to pay off the credit card debt he racked up this month and on the other hand, he's begging me to let him splurge on a $1500 Macbook so he has a machine that isn't owned by his employer. I've given him around $10K so far for things I thought were necessary or emergencies but I feel like it's turning into me paying for his mismanagement of expenses. Btw, the only shared expense he covers is the rent, and that too because I paid the deposit and the first couple months of it by myself. He has a luxury car that he's been wavering between keeping or selling off that he still needs to pay off. I've told him it's up to him but that the expenses are high with that car and we don't need it since we have mine for a few years but he keeps going back and forth. The man spent the same amount of money to get 3 tees and a pant that I did to buy my entire work wardrobe.
For context, we come from very different backgrounds. I'm from a relatively well off family and have been brought up in the states while my husband and his family have dealt with financial issues all their lives and lived in another country where wages aren't very high. He came to the states for his master's and has been working for a couple years now while I've just started working. He earns 2-3 times as much as I do and I earn decently well compared to my age group. However, his parents are entirely dependent on him for their financial needs. They have neither any savings nor a source of income so he does have to pay their living expenses as well, even though they're a small part of his monthly income.
I could use some advice that isn't related to me taking over the finances. That's the plan already and it's in the works but I need help with figuring out how to curb his expensive taste, especially since he doesn't have the money to back it up and I can't keep bankrolling his lifestyle.

You need to cut down or quit covering his expenses especially if he is making money ...... do you know what he is racking up these debts on? you can start small like if he request 1000 say sorry the best i can do is 400 ....... then he will be faced with the fact you are not his piggy bank
i personally would NOT mingle finances with a person like this ever and his tastes need to be something he can bankroll not hoping you can cover........
while all noble that he is providing for his family etc is that the future he wants always too ....NO plan NO savings and hoping you will have a child who can or WILL .......... bankroll him when he is older because he blew through everything he had.......
@neonSummer8296- yikes, so many alarms going off for you. Sounds like he says one thing yet does another. I hope the credit cards are in his name. You will have to show some really tough love. He should be responsible for his debts and not lean on you for extra cash. Not a great way to start a marriage. Hope you had a prenuputial. Maybe go to a third party for financial advice may help. Best of luck to you.
