Why Don’t We Have a Sexual Health Space Here?

User Profile: LanaAfterDark

Hey everyone, I’m new here and still figuring out the different communities and forums. One thing I noticed is that there isn’t a dedicated space to talk about sexual health. I know it’s a sensitive topic, but it’s also an important part of overall wellbeing, physical and emotional.

Do you think a space for respectful and educational conversations about sexual health could be beneficial here? Or is it better just being handled in private chats?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Well, you're right I think we could use a space for that but generally people really use private chats to open up the way they wanna for now. Lemme know if you wanna too, maybe we could chat about whatever fits best

Hiya @LanaAfterDark glad you’re exploring the communities around here.

The community names we have here are broadly stated but if you explore within a particular community more, you’d find related sub-topics within.

For instance, We do have a dedicated forum space for topics related to Sexual Health and it’s located within the Relationship Support community, here: https://www.7cups.com/forum/relationships/SexualHealth_2031/

Does that help? 😊

Feel free to check out this forum handbook for more ease in navigating around: https://www.7cups.com/forum/7cupsleadership/ForumGuides_2597/StrugglingwiththeforumsFindyourhandbookhere_309768/

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou

Thanks, this is awesome!

Still sucks how little the topic of sexual health, sex life, sex workers and such barely gets any attention.
At least those topics get training modules, I'd really hope 7 cups created modules for religion, and spirituality

@LanaAfterDark

Glad you think so!

Oh yes, I think that’s because the religion and spirituality support community is fairly new, and the self help guides (https://www.7cups.com/self-help/) have been with us for a while now hehe.

I like having these resources also and I think it benefits both listeners and members to have more of these well-constructed resources.

Your openness is so appreciated! There’s so many people here with a varied range of topics they like/ want to/ feel comfortable to share or seek support on, and I believe it’s the passionate ones who take initiative and try to bridge the gaps when identified~ it can be a great spark and may benefit more people also.

If you’d like to host open chats for members needing support or lead chatroom discussions on any topics you want to strongly advocate for, you can reach out to @Suryansh or @AsilentObserver for guidance.

If you’d like to create forum discussions, for any topics you want to support more members on or discuss with, you can always visit the relevant community and create a new thread.

I get that certain topics here are more sensitive than others and may need to comply with forum as well as community guidelines,  so if you need some support on how to go about it, you can reach out to @Tommy, who I’m sure would be happy to support you on this.

We do have listener guides in the forums, these are basically guides that listeners can reference to, for insight on dealing with certain topics or active listening skills reminders and tips, we have many available already linked to this master post: https://www.7cups.com/forum/listenerjourney/ListenerResourcesMockChatGuides_2381/NewListenerResourcesMasterListForumLibrary_352273/

A lot is old but there’s still value in it, and some of these guides were prepared by then listeners and mentors; if you feel there’s any missing topics (and I’m sure there may be many) or something that you want to initiate a discussion amongst listeners or create a guide for listeners, sharing your tips and any relevant resources too on any particular topics of your interest and comfort, you’re always welcome to partner-up with the leaders for it~ I’m not sure who is currently overseeing this aspect, as the “guide” may need to be reviewed by a leader before they add to the masterpost I linked above, but I’ll tag @Remina and @EmmaE @hopedreamlove hoping they’d know who to direct you to, if you are interested.

I think the community feedback form isn’t accepting responses anymore, and its information thread isn’t available, so is there another way to pass on suggestions and feedback for training guides and resources like Lana here mentioned? @AnnaSilverberg @Heather225

I’m really proud of you for taking your time to explore the community more, Lana and I believe like you do, when we notice something is missing or something can improve for even better for the greater good of our community here, as it truly is a collective effort here, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and 7 cups is ever-evolving too; it’s brave to voice out and even better if we can do something to play catalyst in bringing about that positive change. I have a feeling your suggestions and contributions would be valuable for our community! 🥰

Hey @LanaAfterDark and @Sunisshiningandsoareyou,

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou, thank you so much for this thoughtful and comprehensive response! You truly covered all the bases and provided some great resources for Lana.

@LanaAfterDark, you've made a really important point about certain topics not getting enough attention and this is where the power of our community comes in. We actively encourage users to contribute content, guides, and forum discussions for topics that are underrepresented. Your passion to fill these gaps is exactly what makes our community so special and keeps it growing.

The Helpdesk link Sun provided is the perfect place to submit your suggestions for new training modules or other site-wide resources. Your ideas are incredibly valuable because they reflect what our community truly needs. Thank you both!

Yes.

We must have a separate category for it.

Glad you brought this up.

Yes you are right we need it to so hard to find a space to talk about sexual health. To me I think this is really a big problem I'm grown now but even was I was young sex never equal safe for me. Having conversations about sexual health will be beneficial because women like my and young men can help each other gain control of our sexuality.
