Faith in Action
Sometimes I may say all the right words that my faith tells me, trying to assure myself, but not feel very reassured. I call this "talking the talk." I say the right words to myself but they do not give me the hoped for result. When I actually act on what I know, I feel more solid and reassured, and confident that I am on the path of my faith.

I have faith in myself and humanity and strongly believe we can overcome and turn around a lot of things in this world (example environmental protection).
I have faith that staying on my path will carry me through difficult situations. This faith inspires me to do something for myself and others. One action I took very recently was to sit with my anger, embrace it and investigated which was the true source of my suffering.
@amiablePeace77 your such a sweet person🙂 I hope you know that ❤
@Tinywhisper11
😲 She said I'm a sweet person and I did not know but now I know! 😀 🙏
@amiablePeace77 awwww ❤ gives you a giant tiny hug ❤❤
@soulsings my faith helps me to believe in this world of magic and beauty. We are surrounded by. My path is to follow the stars, the hope and most importantly show love to everyone I meet ❤
@Tinywhisper11 yeah! So I didn't really answer the questions because I wasn't sure how!😁😋
@Tinywhisper11 what a wonderful aspiration ... and you do that so well in every post you make!
@soulsings, I like this "When I actually act on what I know, I feel more solid and reassured, and confident that I am on the path of my faith." Suggests a deeper level of knowledge. How do you dial into this deeper sense of knowing?
@GlenM well that is sort of like someone asking me how I walk. But let me try to explain that I contemplate the ideas and ponder what I could do to express them in my life. It can start out simple like saying hi to the person bagging my groceries and thank you.
I can think about habitual behavior like being always worried about myself and allocating time and attention to the problems that others have and give them my full attention. Relating to a partner or friend with full attention is a way to really be there for them.
I can try to apply what I have learned by my faith to situations right here at 7 Cups in discussion rooms and in the forums. How I treat others in my daily life is how I am walking. I ask myself if I am acting according to my highest beliefs and if not, what can I start doing differently.
Glen, I hope that clarifies things a little.

I have the feeling, 'talking the talk' may create moments of uncertenty when one tries to look at the actual meaning of the words being used. When you feel you actually know the deaper meaning of the things we are reflecting on and understand their true purpose, it makes it a lot easier to follow through with an action in line with that clear purpose you had in mind to start with.
Not being clear in your mind only means you may want wait with any actions and think a bit more about the meaning and the purpose of how you may like to cary out that action to gain more clarity in your own mind so your action becomes more fulfilling in the end for giving you this feeling of having done your deed with greater commitment and the knowledge of having done it well ...
Please let me know if this make any sense to you! :)
@RedStar01 I think that if I am not sure of what to do that action needs to be postponed until I reach clarity. That is one thing I take from what I read.
I guess with myself I get to a point where I have studied and learned and then I need to act to take it to the next stage. I guess I want to actually act on what I believe when I am able to.
So many things inspire me through faith! The idea that life is a literal gift that was freely given without being earned or deserved actually helps motivate me. It is not self hatred but true humility to recognize this precious gift, one chance at life and remembering all that He has done for me, His mercy every single day motivates me to not let my life be wasted.
What made me feel like I was “walking the talk” was the small quiet moments where temptation creeps up and I am starting to be able to see that and say no to the lies and say yes to the truth.
I loved your answer especially when you said that you were able to say no to the temptation. ♥️
That's commendable as very few have mastered it.
Much love,

- What idea in your faith inspires you to take action?
My faith helps me to be kind to people regardless of any differences. At the same time, it is my faith alone that motivates me to speak up wherever kindness is not shown. I strongly believe that every living thing is worthy of being shown compassion towards and I like to take a stand for what I believe in.
- What is one action you took that helped you feel like you were "walking the talk?"
Recently, my friend has been taking online classes due to not being able to travel to Europe. She was asked to submit some of her documents by the student affairs office. Somehow it went missing by the faculty members. The university demanded those copies again and nobody took responsibility for the lost papers. There were no calls returned or email replies. I felt that the school was being too unkind to her so I decided to visit the premises and spoke to the rector and the dean. Thank God, the issues were finally resolved!
What are your opinions on these questions?
Much love,
-Angel
@soulsings
@lyricalAngel70 You asked "What is your answer to these questions" (paraphrased)
- What idea in your faith inspires you to take action? One of the ideas in Buddhism is the altruistic intention to help others as much as we are able and work to be able to help others more as we progress on the path. This gives meaning to my life and purpose.
- What is one action you took that really helped you feel like you were "walking the talk?" Well when I was working I put a sign up on the board that expressed that I wanted to help all people in doing my job. It was something my boss did not really understand but as long as I did my job he did not care.
Then when I left work and retired, I joined 7 Cups and I was able to "walk the talk" more than I could when I was constrained by the profit motives of work. The best move I made!
That was very brave of you to put up a signboard for people regardless of your boss or what people have to say. If I were you, it would be hard for me to do it as it would draw everyone's attention towards me 🙈
