Safety is always important to me. At Christmas I often travel 500 miles (each way) to visit my family. I make several stops along the way to refresh myself, walk around a little bit. This year I have the advantage of sharing the driving. I am looking forward to all of this. In the wintertime I also like to go downhill skiing, and I go with a good group of people so I don't get too crazy on the slopes. We have a lot of fun, we take care of each other. It is a wonderful experience every time.
For me in my toolbox is me Drs, my husband, medication, and going for walks.
My tattoo. It says this too shall pass. It's over my wrist (I used to be a self harmer.) It keeps me grounded when it all gets too much.

Online - good virus protection, regular system checks, not using any suspicious sites
Real life - being very mindful with words and body language in tricky situations, mindfully assessing my surroundings, not going to places known for "trouble" or isolated places. Preparing for possible nature disasters (like hurricanes, know what to do when), meditation

Honestly, after reading the Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker I feel alot less anxious about being threatend by strangers or angry men. I guess safety for me means feeling prepared. As long as I feel like I have options in a situation or am mentally prepared to face something I will be okay.

For Online safety:
I try not to share any of my personal information online. I know that if someone is being inappropriate in the chat, then I can mute them or block them, depending on the situation.
For My Real life Safety:
I have three dogs to keep me safe. I also have resources including quotes, and relaxation techniques to calm me down in case I get really anxious. I have a list of self-care ideas and another one for what I like about myself, to go through when I feel depressed. When I go outside, I try to pay attention to my surroundings.
