Are there group chat logs?
I had responded to a thread where someone had mentioned group chat logs as well as giving links to screenshots.
I asked about these logs, got a notification, but can't access the thread.
Are there chat logs from the group chat rooms?
In the past it was made quite clear that the group chat rooms were not to be saved in any way.
If this is not the case, or changes have been made I think users have the right to know. I find it concerning that this question has been ignored for over a week.
Hi there @affectionateAvocado35 !
As far as I know, there are no saved logs from group support chatrooms (just like nothing beyond the last 10 messages exchanged between a listener and a member is saved.) Perhaps a group mod leader might be able to elaborate or correct me if I'm wrong? ( @Heather @Jake @Sarah @apple74 )
Hello! :)
Logs of the chat rooms are not kept. We do, however, keep things such as moderator mutes andmessages deleted by moderators.
Thanks for asking!
Jake
Can someone please explain this:
"I actually had to sift through over 80 pages of logs "

I feel like I'm being lied to.
@Jake @Iara @Heather @Sarah @apple74 @Philbear
@affectionateAvocado35 no one has lied to you, I feel that my choice of words were chosen quite poorly. There are no physical logs on this site. I was keeping track of the discussion I was leading with @ItsLee and I had arranged to want to summarize the outcome thereof to possibly help future members with their own path down the same road we all talked about on Wednesday.
It was never my intention to offend or otherwise infringe upon anyone's privacy. I was however under the impression that 1) it was a group community chatroom whereby ANYONE could have access to it and use whatever information was shared therein (that is why it is good to pay caution to what is said as even as a moderator we can't control who sees what) and 2) I was leading a discussion and as said, posing questions, I thought I had the right to summarize and highlight really good responses to them.
I believe in full transparency and have nothing to hide, as I have said to you in the 1-1 and we've been trying to clear up.
There is no one to blame here, no other staff member, not 7COT, I am in no way affiliated other than another person such as yourself dedicating my time and energy to helping others. I will take full responsibility for my actions, and I wish to apologize in advance for not getting the consent of those I have tagged or shared their personal responses thereof.
Hopefully this covers the basics, for now, and I do truly apologize once more.
As @philbear explains, we do not save chat logs. This was an error of language. Sometimes a discussion leader will take notes from the discussion so that they can compile the information into a communal learning guide, like Philbear did!
The goal is to share everything that learned & discussed during the discussion with the entire community, so that we all can learn from it.
No chat logs, from any chat rooms or 1-1 chats are saved!
@Laura
What about chat transcripts from group chat outside of specific discussions? That's being discussed in another thread:

@AffyAvo
We do not log group discussions outside of the ability to provide notes on a specific topic (as previously discussed)
@AffyAvo
I think the confusion here comes from the fact that the log doesn't disappear from your own chat room log as long as you remain on that tab (without refreshing).
For example, when leading a discussion and I want to save a transcript I need to keep the chat room open before the discussion starts and remain on that same tab until the very end of it and then select the whole text and paste it somewhere (example: google doc, forum post, microsoft word or notepad). As soon as I refresh the page or close it or open it on a new tab the past log is lost and I only can see what has happened since I've been there and somewhat the last 10 messages.
We don't keep conversation logs beyond those 10 messages, the mutes and warnings (and deleted messages by moderators) as it was stated above. I hope this clears it up a little better
@Iara I appreciate the info that has been shared here, but there's more that I find confusing. At one point members were chastised for sharing links with screen shots - including some that were right on the website! The message always was that the group chat information should not be shared in any way.
There's been a shift without anything actually being stated in the rules and it's confusing. I see mods recommending people take screen shots. Now it sounds like in addition to lurking mods, moderators who aren't even around when things are happening are going to review what was said. I don't know if this means that they are now going to act one this, where someone might get a warning well after an infraction has occurred?
The use of the term transcript does make it sound like the logs are being saved.
The community guidelines are not very clear either. We are told "All conversations between you and listeners are confidential. Do not share any chat details with any other listeners or members." Is this only for 1-1 or is this for ALL conversations?
