Why can't you nominate yourself for more badges?

There's only a few badges available when you choose to nominate yourself for something. I've just been looking through the badges available and I could achieve them/already have achieved them but no-one seems to be giving out badges anymore.

Also, rarely do people nominate other people for badges through their profiles. I think it's a forgotten feature that I forget about a lot myself sometimes.

There's hundreds of badges available, thousands of people, yet some have only been achieved by a few because they're just not being awarded anymore, so it makes sense for all badges to be available in the nomination part, you explain in the box why you should be rewarded and for harder badges, you have to provide proof through links etc.

More badges should be available on other profiles too for when you want to nominate them for something or just nominate them for being a great person here! There's a badge for having 5 mock chats - I don't think even mentors nominate their mentees for that badge.

It all just seems forgotten.

I know badges don't mean much to the majority but I like to have something to show how hard I've been working and what I'm doing behind the scenes sort of thing. It's a form of encouragement and something to strive for, for me.

Hell yeah, more badges = more motivation.

More rewards = people are willing to work harder and try their best. (Not saying they don't already).

By implementing a reward system that is highly honored, people will have a small/big goal to work towards. People want to stand out and look different with all kinds of badges. Think of the general in the army. Badges everywhere!

Wishing 7 cups can work towards the badge system, one that can express each listener's individuality. And be listed on the listener profile so that the venters can find the best listener they can click with.

@SilentSerenityy--I know that some of the badges, for example, the one for 5 mock chats--is for something that hasn't gotten started yet (@StarryKoala69, do you know about this badge)? All of the badges are either self-nominated (apply now), automatic (i.e., once you hit a certain number of chats, etc., or are part of soemthing such as passing AL3 or AL4. Are there any other badges you're wondering about?

@Amelia

I don't mean the badges that you automatically achieve and of course, if the badge is new and still in development.

For example, the Stigma Warrior badge. Only you have it. I have seen many feed posts/threads by people helping to battle stigmas for many things.

The badge Startup Support Pro, only 5 people have it. What about the members/mods/listeners who regularly welcome and help people who come to 7 cups for the first time? There's the Welcome & Support one which no-one has been awarded.

Got Your Back - How do you keep track of that one? I've made several appointments with members and kept them.

Heart Healer - Does this include people you've helped in private chats?

Fly Swatter - Only 9 people have achieved this when I believe there are many who give in bug reports that benefit 7 Cups.

Pop-up Ninja - No-one has achieved this but I swear there are people who have achieved this.

Birthday <3 - I've honoured listener's reviews in feed posts but not got the badge?

Joyful Cupcake is for being part of the Social Soldiers team, which I am. I have the Reddit badge but why not this badge?

Lean-On-Me is one which you have to be nominated for by 5 other listeners. There's many helpful peer supporters here, yet only 33 people have this badge. This is an example of people not be aware of the ability to nominate other listeners/forgetting about it or it not being available to nominate someone for. This is similar to the Relationships badge.

Trust Fall - I've spoken to peer support a few times. You need two listeners to nominate you for his badge. Only 58 people have this badge, despite the thousands of listeners and peer support chats that take place.

You see what I mean? I don't want all of this to sound negative, I just feel like the badge sytsem has been forgotten. My idea would be for the majority of badges (not the automatic ones or nomination ones) be available for self nomination and then a few people assigned to decide whether the person should receive the badge or not. Also a thread encouraging listeners to nominate others more - I could probably do that though.

----Some of these badges I do not know what they are for: StartUp Support Pro.

----Some are for a team: Stigma Warriors (the team leader forgot to assign badges or hasn't had time yet); Welcome & Support (newer badge that will be assigned once the team is fully organized)

----Some are related to special events that happened once: Birthday and Joyful Cupcake (both were associated with 7 Cups 2nd birthday)

----Member nominates you for the badge: Got Your Back and Heart Healer

----Listener nominates you for the badge: Trust Fall adn Lean-On-Me

----Fallen through the cracks: Fly Swatter & Pop-Up Ninja; perhaps these should be added to the nominate yourself for a badge area @KrinkTheMellowUnicorn?

Regarding the increased awareness of badges, you could definitely try to get this thread going again--this promotes listener nominated badges: How Would You Like to Make Someone's Day?

Hopefully this answers some of your questions :)

@Amelia - the technical changes are not difficult for such requests... They need to go through the community team though because I lack the expertise to judge myself.

@Amelia - its the Mockchat Master badge... that was created around Quality Week... its recently added...

@SilentSerenityy- as the badge is fairly new i think not many people know about it yet.. i am sure with time it will be awarded more... 2 havr already been awarded...

Surely badges are a great motivation n like a pat on the back... we have many coming the next week for participation in Quality Week too... may be there is delay as it takes some time to get the badges once applied( for those applied or have to nominated for from My Impact page)...

I myself have been nominating other listeners... i think it just takes a little time...
