Safety Online!
We all know how important it is to stay safe online but how many of us really believe that it is ever going to be a problem for us personally? It will never happen will 'it' whatever 'it' is?
I know that I am shocked at the relaxed way many people treat the internet.
One good thing to remember is:-
WHATEVER YOU PUT ONLINE STAYS ONLINE!
You might delete or make private or change your settings or hide who can see it but the real truth is once something is put online it is there forever. There are archives and records and back-ups and so like @Laura #overheardOn7Cups whatever she says she expects will be repeated! Well maybe we should all think something similar? That way we all might be more careful?

We all give complete strangers a little bit of trust.
We talk to them.
We get to know them and we listen and share with them, but please . . .
NEVER GIVE ANY PERSONAL DETAILS
It is important for everyone's safety that 7Cups is anonymous and confidential, that way it doesn't really matter who you are talking to because you are kept safe, as safe as possible.
So here are some ways to be safer online:-
1) Change your PASSWORD regularly and don't write it down or share it with anyone!
2) BE CAREFUL what you share, don't tell everyone that you are going on holiday and then wonder why you get broken into whilst away.
3) DON'T SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION with anyone, no-one should ever need your password but you, be careful also with things like birthdates.
4) Think about your Facebook account, have a clear out, do you really KNOW all those people? It might look good to have 100 friends but really, all of those people are getting all of your information and pictures and details.
5) Look at your PRIVACY SETTINGS. do you really want a prospective employer seeing the party pics? Be careful what you post publicly.
THE INTERNET IS A WONDERFUL THING! But it needs to be used safely! It is a fantastic place to share and make friemds and enjoy yourself without leaving your home or your bed!

I first posted this over on Caregivers Support here and we had a wonderful discussion in our chatroom too and it was amazing how many people actually thought that they were offline sometimes, then we figured out that our routers, modems and phones were STILL ONLINE! Food for thought?

Thank you for sharing! It is definitely important to remember that what you put on the net is permanent, especially with photos! Even if you delete a sensitive photo, with enough tech smarts, you can find the photo.

Use a vpn. Protecting your IP address has gotten more important than ever these days.
As for your passwords, there are enough extensions and add ons and software out there to help you remember your passwords that there really isn't any excuse for the good ol' Password12345 written on a post it note stuck on your monitor or under your keyboard.
@DaveMcGrath a note on your computer can be found with logiciel. Hacking or virus. Etc. Someone have access to your computer and more.

LMAO. Probably had it written on a post it note as well so they wouldn't forget.
Im still struggling to see the ultimate good in all the on line and tech. I think
it will be our master eventually thst in it will hold all communication. All reality as it is wanted to be presented to us. Only means to purchase , where your money is and be a 24/7 surveillance and monitor . I liked the world before it entered into it. Im tryjg though ., just bejng honest and I hope Im wrong
i didn't understand a lot about Malware, PUPs and other HiJackers, Ransomware etc, before they found ME~! hard lessons, Learned~!! now i use 3 security programs, the best of which is MalWareBytes, but even it cannot protect me from my own ignorance~!
