Well, I personally would say I don't even have a facebook, because it's true (and probably the simplest way to get out of that sort of situation lol), but I know the answer you're looking for is somewhere along the lines of "for your safety and in accordance with the site rules, we are not to share off site contact information"
I was chatting with someone and they asked me to chat with them on Facebook .....
My answer as a Listener: I would talk with the Member about the rules of 7cups. I'd try to explain the "why!" about the rules and to answer any other questions the Member might have. I would NOT give my full name, like ever. Even if the Member says I'll give you my FB name and then you give me yours, okay? No, not okay with me. I'd ask if the Member has anything else he/she would like to talk with me about. If no, or if he/she is incredibly persistent with the FB thing - I would politely tell him/her that I need to go (to do something else, like IRL; or to another 7cups meeting; or ... something true though). I'd give time for the Member to reply and then I'd leave.
My answer as a Member: I would ask why are you asking (to the Listener). I would remind the Listener! of the rules of 7cups and why (for privacy and anonymity). Or I might just tell the Listener, "No, I'm not comfortable giving out that information." A good Listener would accept that and move on to another topic or something.
NOTE: Good Listeners do NOT block Members for this sort of thing. Simply not answering a Listener's question is NOT grounds for blocking/muting a Member. In addition, not answering a question that goes against the 7cups rules is definitely not reason for blocking/muting.
@Laura - Good guiding question! This is something I think 7cups Members and Listeners should think about :)
If it was a listener that asked me that I'd probably say, "No, that's not an anonymous means of contact," and then report their question and the context they asked it in to 7cups reporting link because all listeners should keep their mind on the rules and anyone falling outside of those rules should be reprimanded and either warned (minor newbie forgetfulness) or if they've repeatedly been warned have their listener account taken from them for knowingly violating rules on purpose. (Though really this is being too kind in my opinion cause everyone should have read the rules before speed clicking into agreeing to the terms.)
