Tired of life

I'm in my 40s this year by all accounts objectively I should be content.

I have a family ( wife and kids thou unhappily married - I'm old school so can't ever feel I can cope with a divorce and the emotional upheaval and cultural stigmata so in it for the kids) .

I have a well paid job in high stress ( particular emotional) role as a doctor.

I am just done... But more so than that I always felt unworthy not good enough for anything or anyone. I feel guilty for feeling guilty even if that makes sense especially when I have it so good objectively.

I have had therapy and I know part of it is trying to live an authentic life but so much stops that happening. I would happily go to sleep and bnevr wake up tbh .

What can I do?

I think more then we know feels that way.... I  myself.  can understand the situation.....

it is not about what or who we have in our lives.. We need something more then a checklist that seems like a social acceptable reasons to be happy and content.

Spouse and children check   Good job good pay  check etc..... We need a connection a passion .....something that makes us feel alive.   It can be  very different for different people .......we have to search and find something that fills our need.   It may be something you have never even considered....

What do you do for self care/ self happiness?     do thing new challenge yourself in something and do not make excuses.  Whatever "It"  is........it is not going to find you. Be the change.

I once tried to talk to my wife how I felt and she said to me I have too cushy and not stressed enough so creating problems for myself. I understood to an extent in her comparison to those less well off working as hard and as many hours the day gives them just to keep food on the table and roof over their heads they don't have time to to be unhappy about certain things. Ie back to me saying what have I got to be unhappy about objectively. Thanks for your input .

It's crazy when you have a successful career and yet you can feel depressed, when your life has been layed out in a way where yoj lost control at some point and now are just floating. It sounds like you need a change of environment, change of life. I'm not in your position at all, but nobody rules your life. I would get a divorce if you feel like there's more gain than loss, but you probably are tied down with compromises, and the social stigma of getting divorced at your age is crazy. My parents did get divoced at their 50's, it all depends from a good reason and how well you handle it. You're self sufficient, as long as your wife is also self sufficient and you provide for your kids, it's better. Now, is it your relationship, or is it the job? Think if you were to remove your marriage or your job, which one is the biggest burden?

Am I getting this right? I hope it helps, a long answer, I have nothing elso to do rn
