Calling all writers! DSM Community Writing project!
Calling all writers & researchers!
Mental health professionals diagnose people by using the DSM 5. The DSM 5 categorizes mental health disorders and provides a list of symptoms for each disorder. For example, one category is mood disorders or disorders of mood. Symptoms listed for depression include difficulty concentrating, lack of pleasure in things that used to cause pleasure, weight gain or weight loss etc.
Many people struggling with a disorder search google for words like help with depression or "therapy for bipolar disorder," or "treatment for social anxiety." Many sites provide information for these disorders, but no real tools or ways to address the issue. One main thing we provide is a way for people to cope with and overcome these challenges - we support people through listening, the growth path, the forum, and therapy.
We want to do a better job of reaching people that are looking for help. To do that, we need to have pages on our website that address each mental health challenge and outline ways the 7 Cups community can help. We need your help creating the content for these pages.
How do I get involved?
Here you will find a share drive for this project!
This drive contains a google doc for every topic we want to write about. Right now, this is 43 topics.
On this main tracking sheet, you can sign up to write a topic, connect directly to the cooresponding google sheet and log your progress. If you decide to help with a topic, you must sign up to let us know if you are working on a topic so that there are no duplicates. You may work as an individual or in teams! It is up to you! You may work on as many of these as you like.
Once you have completed your topic, please update the status here to "complete." This will signal that this topic is done!
Question: How many people can do each illness?
@Laura There is a topic I could probably help with, but just having a little doubt in it. It has status "In Progress" but no authors listed. My doubt is: can I put my name as author and work in it, given that there's no author listed? Because my idea was, if someone was already working in it, I'd contact them - but this made me confused because there's no one I can contact
Generalized Anxiety Disorder DONE!!
I wish I write more, but it's very difficult to work through my loneliness and depression. For how much I want to write the ironic side effect is when I am socially active and in better moods I get so energized and engaged to stop and write. My need is so great that when opportunity comes I can't stop myself from feasting.
@Laura
I read the entire DSMV, so this is something I am excited about!! I will see what I can do <3
Just thought I would check in to see how everyone's pages are going :) happy writing and researching
Just signed up for Avoidant Personality Disorder, I will work on it as soon as I get home!
This is a wonderful idea and I love writing.
I want to become a DSM Writer but it seems I don't have the permission to update the tracking status and include my name with the topic I want to write. Any HELP would be appreciated !!!!
