Calling all writers! DSM Community Writing project!
Calling all writers & researchers!
Mental health professionals diagnose people by using the DSM 5. The DSM 5 categorizes mental health disorders and provides a list of symptoms for each disorder. For example, one category is mood disorders or disorders of mood. Symptoms listed for depression include difficulty concentrating, lack of pleasure in things that used to cause pleasure, weight gain or weight loss etc.
Many people struggling with a disorder search google for words like help with depression or "therapy for bipolar disorder," or "treatment for social anxiety." Many sites provide information for these disorders, but no real tools or ways to address the issue. One main thing we provide is a way for people to cope with and overcome these challenges - we support people through listening, the growth path, the forum, and therapy.
We want to do a better job of reaching people that are looking for help. To do that, we need to have pages on our website that address each mental health challenge and outline ways the 7 Cups community can help. We need your help creating the content for these pages.
How do I get involved?
Here you will find a share drive for this project!
This drive contains a google doc for every topic we want to write about. Right now, this is 43 topics.
On this main tracking sheet, you can sign up to write a topic, connect directly to the cooresponding google sheet and log your progress. If you decide to help with a topic, you must sign up to let us know if you are working on a topic so that there are no duplicates. You may work as an individual or in teams! It is up to you! You may work on as many of these as you like.
Once you have completed your topic, please update the status here to "complete." This will signal that this topic is done!

Getting to work right away on schizophrenia! It helps that I'm studying it right now :)
Woohoo, go team!
This wouldn't happen to be a paid position, would it? Because I have a lot of experience in 7cups, and have a Bachelor's in Psychology and am looking actively for any possible employment opportunities that are entry-level/basic, as this one seems to be.
@MaddieTheTherapist .... I have those things as well. I doubt this is paid, Maddie. As you know (I'd guess), most things on 7cups are not paid - volunteers ROCK!
@cyanPlatypus6370 Right, I see. Thanks for the info! I suppose if the position were paid, Laura would've mentioned it in the new creation of the position.
Signed up to do OCD and Panic Disorder!
GREAT idea!! love it! ready, set, and go! :)
Thank you for this opportunity. Taken up Dissociative identity disorder. Fairly complex topic. Will research thoroughly though.
@Laura What is the timeline we are looking at to complete the assigned tasks.
