I have noticed that many members have been hesitant to join in & follow each other and fellow listeners. The feed is intended to be a place of sharing, connection building and encouragement. I follow many people whom I have never chatted with & for those of you who are comfortable with that, I want to invite you to join the..... drum roll please..........
Follow a Member Marathon!
What is the follow a member marathon?
A 1 week event in which we encourage members & listeners to follow each other! Specifically, if you look at your follow list and you see that you primarily follow listeners, go find 26 members to follow!
26 miles in a marathon & 26 members in the follow a member marathon!
How do you find people to follow?

Once completed, you will earn the "Marathon Badge!"
Anyone, who goes above and beyond the marathon challenge (by listing 26 or more new ppl they are following), will be eligible to earn 1 cheer for every extra person they follow!

Hi, I'm relatively new here. I joined because I needed to get away from the drama/hatred/victim mentality on other social media sites. I've noticed you are asking people (in another announcement) to start promoting this site on the sites I intentionally left. By doing this, I am afraid that this site will soon become corrupt. That said, I do not want random people following my feed because I tend to post really personal things on it. Is there a way that I can disallow certain people, or remove followers that I don't want there? Is there a way to approve only the people I want following me? I want to feel safe here. I currently do, but I'm concerned that as the site grows that will change.
@ALifeLessOrdinary There's a spot when you go to your settings (under the "Me" tab) where you can click on closed. This makes it so that people have to request permission to view your feed, and you can choose who you allow, or disallow to view what you are posting.
I really hope that you continue to feel comfortable and safe here.

Awesome, thank you! So... by doing that, will it automatically delete my followers and make them re-request, or do the ones that are already there get to stay?
@ALifeLessOrdinary I'm not totally sure. I'm thinking that the ones that are there get to still stay. But you could put a request into one of the admins possibly to clear your followers list? If that's not possible, you could always ask those who are following you to unfollow you, I guess? I've got to say...I'm one of your followers right now, and I appreciate the things you post and repost on there, and I'm glad to be following you, but if it makes you uncomfortable, and out of respect, I can unfollow you...as I'm sure many others would do out of respect to. You could maybe post something on your feed in regards to it?

Thank you. I am fine with my current followers. I haven't closed the account yet because I didn't want to remove them. But if what you say is true (that they remain on the account after I close it) then there is no way to remove a follower that I later decide I don't want there. I have BPD... so I've always been really selective with the people I interact with, and because I post from my heart, and often impulsively, it sets me up for a lot of negative feedback. I'll try closing the account, I just hope people realize that they aren't following me anymore and rerequest (in the event that this happens)

No, your existing followers will not be deleted automatically.
You could post that you are making your feed private and so you will be clearing up your follower list and invite people who know you already through 7 cups to request following you after you make the change.

Great minds think alike, I just posted a feed update saying just that. I guess, from the comment you made on my OMG post, you work for 7 Cups? I don't think I've ever been a part of a website where its employees follow the members. Good to know.

FYI, I closed my account and viewed my profile on another browser that I'm not logged into. It shows all of my feed posts. The only thing that actually is private is my list of followers and following. This does not address my privacy concerns. Will somebody look into a better resolution please? thanks
