Pioneers of Community Centered Moderation! Information & a Shout-out!
It is with great excitement that I announce the pioneers of the Community Centered Moderation Update!
Specifically, the Self-Harm Recovery Community & the Trauma community teams!
Additionally, on Sunday, January 28th, the 35 Plus community will go live. As a brand new community, they will also be pioneers of this exciting new moderation update! We are so thankful to have them join in!
Over the past week, we have worked out some kinks and been able to figure out more specific needs of this update. Most importantly, I am highly impressed with the individuals who have decided to jump on board to help us learn and evolve this new update. These folks have been patient and helpful in giving feedback and communicating amongst themselves. I am incredibly proud of these individuals and excited to see their communities thrive in the upcoming weeks and months.

When does the Trauma group meet?

@Laura This sounds like a cool idea honestly and all, and it'll really help out these subcoms, but I personally dont like this idea. If I'm interpreting this right, I can only mod the Self Harm room which opens like a couple times a week for a disccussion. And even if I can mod up to three subcoms, there's many many rooms. I think it would be nice to have the option of being a global mod still available to these team members. I really empathize this expecially on the teen side because of all the trouble in the teen rooms and every time someone asks for a mod, we have a limited amount of them that can actually go and handle the situation. Now there will be even less. It's a terrible inconvenience.
@Azurentz Heyo there Azurentz! If you'd check the new mod application, Kate has mentioned in her post that, "You will be given the option of applying for global moderator after focusing on your chosen teams for at least three months. Please note that applying for global moderator involves additional training and responsibility. We encourage you to focus on getting comfortable with your teams and rooms for as long as possible before expanding to the global moderator role." and I hope that clarifies things for you if you're concerned about the global mod option for the new batch of mods c: I believe there are enough global mods as of the moment though there are just some factors like timezones which can affect their availability and how often they're present in the rooms and I believe we don't have many teen rooms opened for 24/7 unlike in the oldie side.
@Erato Thanks for replying and I will check it out. I just dont like sitting in a chatroom when someone comes in to ask for a mod, but nobody being available XD
@Azurentz Mhm, I understand your point. It's frustrating where there's no mod available to handle the chatrooms c: But I believe listeners can still help steering the conversation by practicing active listening skills or asking some icebreakers to deescalate the chaos in the room if no mod is around.
@Erato Good point, but the warning system comes in handy when those things dont work~ :)

what does community centered moderation mean?
@DaveMcGrath It means that Moderation is Centered on the Community. 
It means that Group Mods, Forum Supporters, etc. can only work on the communities they're part of.
