Holiday Reflection 2015
Holidays are set apart times. We step out of our normal lives - out of the frenzied pace, demands, and deadlines - and take time to reflect on light, hope, and love. Holidays give us permission to see the world in a different way. During these times, we are encouraged to be thankful, to give to others, and to support those who are vulnerable. The themes of kindness, care, and redemption that are woven into our cultures, surface and become more prominent during these special times.
I find this remarkable. That we, collectively, agree, that at certain times during the year, we are going to be extra kind and giving to one another. From what I can tell, there is no top down holiday planning commission that makes this happen. Instead, this is a natural process that spontaneously emerges during the holiday season.

It's a pleasure to be a part of this community, the commitment from our members, guest and listeners is second to none, the love, compassion and support which is received and given is truly heart warming, this is demonstrated in so many areas across site! I never through I would feel so much appreciation and enjoyment out of 7 cups! I never imagined or expected the site to have a huge impact on my life, I guess I was wrong, im glad I was wrong 🙂 I'm proud to be here!

Yes it is magical!!! Glen I'm very thankful to be a part of what you envisioned and then made your vision come alive. I too, play only a small part here at 7cups. But all our our parts do make up 7cups

I don't belive in any religion so xmass or whatever you people call it does not fly with me. I don't go out for new year and bla bla bla to your cheer. people should be nice all year round not just once a year. We need to find a way to spread our word out far that there are nice people in this world. The only way we can do that is if we try our best to be nice all year round. If we find a way to even help one person from killing them self then we have done this world good.

@GlenM, and with respect, in response to magical higher levels being responsible. I believe that for thousands of years, human beings ritualistically celebrated certain points of the year. Off the top of my head - Stonehenge, believed to have been a place of importance some 10,000 years ago. The stones we see today were built to align with the setting of the sun on the summer solstice. Archeological evidence has indicated that celebrations took place, and there's no real reason to doubt that they weren't kind to one another. Not much else compelled them to do so except an annual seasonal phenomenon.
I'm not from the UK so don't celebrate Thanksgiving. However, that exists because of an historic event. The combination of being a species that can empathise and reason combined with hundreds/thousands of years of history, tradition and custom may have something to do the seasonal goodwill.
That's not to say the efforts people put in here isn't metaphorically magical!

On reflection on my post and this thread, what does it matter what people's beliefs are,holiday periods are a time to rejoice.
Holidays are even worse than daily life, believe it or not...
