New Dashboards Coming Soon!
Hello Community!
We have been quietly working away on revamping the dashboards for the last several months and we are excited to share a sneak preview with you.
You can see the new member dashboard here.
You can see the new growth path here.
You can see the new listener dashboard here.
You can see that there are many of the same elements that have been cleaned up and reorganized. The goal was to present the information in a more streamlined and accessible way.
The biggest innovation is the feed in the center. The feed consists of different “cards” that are organized in a scrolling format. As you scroll down more cards will appear. The cards are growth path steps, featured posts in the community, posts from around the different sub-communities and alerts. It will start off being less personalized, but, with time, will become more personalized. Here is an example:
I struggle with anxiety so in my feed I’ll see posts that other people with anxiety find helpful, exercises that will help me better manage and overcome anxiety, and featured posts. Eventually, with time, the feed will get smarter because we will better know what exercises seem to help the most. We can also eventually recommend groups and maybe eventually listeners that specialize in certain topics.
We will start really simple, but the goal is to get people the best information and support to help them feel better and increase strengths to better navigate life and relationships.
One way I’ve imagined this is like a food court at a mall. Here is an image of a food court. There are restaurants all around the perimeter of the food court. If you like sweets, then you might go to cinnabon. If you like chicken, then you might go to popeye’s, and if you want ice cream then you might go to Ben and Jerrys. The normal strategy is to get a table and then walk over to each restaurant and make a purchase.
The normal food court process is kind of like how things work now on 7 Cups. You have to wind around the site and discover different communities, growth path steps, and posts that might help you. We help a lot of people in this way, but it is also unnecessarily challenging, particularly if you happen to be stressed out!
In keeping with our metaphor, the new feed is like walking to the food court and sitting down. Then, without even doing anything, the people from Popeyes come over with your chicken, Ben and Jerry bring over that coconut/almond/chocolate ice cream you like (or is that only me?) and cinnabon brings you over a cinnabon just how you like it.
The feed will surface more areas of the site so that people have to do less discovery and more readily find the tools and support so that they can feel better and reach their goals.
We will be rolling this out in stages in the coming weeks. Our goal is to learn as we go. Some of you might see it. If you do, then let us know what you think! Please post any feedback in this thread.
Thank you and look for more on this front in the coming weeks!

I love this idea, it sounds like it’s going to be great! 😄❤️
I just wanna say though that I’m on the web version on a mobile device and when I tap the links you embedded the website comes up completely white. I’m not sure if this is on my end but I just thought I’d put this here in case it doesn’t work for others on mobile.
How we are working daily, weekly, monthly and yearly to bring these innovations and making 7cups experience sweeter, is beyond words! These proactive efforts make us one of the best communities that could exist.
@GlenM
New dashboard seems amazing... Would love to give it a try. I must say a big Thank You to everyone that puts their time and effort into this update in every possible way. 😍
Something that I found really great is having the "Quick Links" section instead of having it in the footer which makes it much easier to access (without a lot of scrolling of course 😄).
A small suggestion from me would be to have the help center items under another card with main categories listed in it. I believe it'll be of help to anyone who's trying to find some help, to give some feedback or to report something. It's only my viewpoint though.
Once again great job everyone! Looking forward to use it soon..
@bubblingBreeze14 excellent idea! the great thing about the feed is we can weave in cards with different content to surface different areas of the site. I'll add this to the doc I'm working on now.
@GlenM
Glad I could help! I've got a few more things to add here if that's ok.
- Are
the cards in the middle belong to the same category? (Ex: notification
panel) or does it contain cards of all different things including
notifications, feed, published answers, etc)?
I think it could be a bit more clear with maybe a ribbon on the top with title and a color for each different section (as it's done for group chats, chats, etc). If it all belong to the same section won't it be more organized if we could show them all in one group?
- Can we order these groups in the way we like? For instance someone might be interested in using their growth path more often and would like to have it on top of the page while some might like to keep an eye on their notifications so in that case notifications section would come first. More of a dynamic page then I believe 😃
- I could also see a counter icon on the right top corner on the card named notifications. Is this icon clickable? Does it expands the panel once clicked or does it directs the user to a new page? I guess expandable panel would be great rather than navigating to a different page. So It's all in one place and can simply be shrunken.
These are merely my suggestions and some questions that popped up in my head when I got the chance to look at the dashboard again 😊 Hope it'll help in some way.
@GlenM After all that quietly working away the new images look remarkably similar to the one we saw in July. Can anyone spot any difference at all? The comments I made back then still apply.
What I want from a dashboard is to be able to go directly to the things I often use, without too much clutter from things I never use.
In food court terms, if I only want a coffee and a croissant I don't want to be pestered by sales people from Popeyes and Ben & Jerrys, and I definitely don't want to have to wander around the entire mall and the surrounding streets searching for the croissant.
At 7 Cups, when I log in as a listener, I often check what's new in the forum, but 7 Cups doesn't currently let me do that directly, so I use my own bookmark. I often check the threads I'm subscribed to, but 7 Cups doesn't let me do that directly either, so I use my own bookmark. I often reply to new messages, but in the proposed new dashboard there doesn't seem to be any way to tell which messages are new. I often check notifications, but I'm annoyed when many of the notifications are just advertisements I didn't ask for. I sometimes send followup messages to members I chat to regularly, but 7 Cups doesn't provide a way for me to identify which members those are, so I use my own system. I sometimes take a general request, which I can do directly at present, but that seems possibly to have become more difficult in the proposed new dashboard.
I like the way listeners have round profile pictures and members have squareish ones. I will be disappointed if the proposed new dashboard removes this distinction (which is the way it looks). I also like having some indication of who is online and who isn't, although the design could be improved, and I will be disappointed if the proposed new dashboard also removes this distinction (which is the way it looks).
I never use the list of active listeners or the weekly activity, and I cannot think of any reason anyone would ever use them. There are some other things I don't use much, but I understand that others would often use them so it makes sense to keep those things in the dashboard.
