June 2021 Community Update

Hello Community!

I hope all is well in your part of the world. Things are good here. My kids are out of school and enjoying the summer.

Quick updates on my end!

-Research - CMU is doing some great research on the optimal ways we can match members and listeners based on preferences. Look for more info on this in the next few weeks. They are also looking at ways that the different therapeutic ingredients on 7 Cups (community, group, listening, therapy, growth path steps etc.) work together to help people feel better.

-Personalization - we’ve been working hard on an early version of personalization. The goal is to start with a pretty basic dashboard that will weave in popular forum posts, posts from relevant communities, and recommended exercises.

-Emails - less glamorous, but still important, we’ve been working on overhauling our emails and push notifications. We should get the new ones live in the coming weeks.

Thank you all for being active members of our community and for co-creating alongside us. I’m thankful and honored to be walking this path with all of you and very excited to celebrate our 8th birthday!

Heather (H)

Hi everyone! Can you believe 7 Cups is turning 8 this year? (How long have you been a part of our community? Would love to hear when you found us in the replies!)

Last month we introduced weekly admin chatroom visits, and the reception has been great! We hope you’re enjoying connecting with us more consistently! The Free Hugs room is seeing a lot more action from this initiative, too!

Now that we have entered the third quarter of the year, I want to start it off with a fresh broad community survey! Please take a moment to give me your perspective (all questions are optional so you can answer any or all).

Lastly, our Daily Reviews campaign is still going strong! Please hop in to tag and congratulate our listeners for their honorable work!

On the academy front, after listening to feedback from our trainees, we updated the Quality Leadership Program to become the Quality Listening Program. We are hoping this change will allow more listeners to benefit from the program. Additionally, we introduced end of first week check-ins across academy programs. Soon all interns/trainees will receive a check-in PM from an academy mentor 7 days after joining a program. The aim of this check-in is to provide an added layer of support.

Moreover, this past month we have focused a lot on strengthening academy leadership and as a result we have a few academy mentors in trial that we hope to announce soon. A shout-out to @anotherfrenchtoastclub and @competentParadise6344 for their support and efforts in recruiting academy mentors. Lastly, we had our first ever academy mentor/teen star meetups, coordinated and hosted by Toast! This will be a monthly effort to encourage collaboration and discuss academy matters with our mentors.

Obs

A quick appreciation to all of you for all the contributions, participation and support in the member and listener chat rooms this month. Also congratulations to all for successfully completing the 24 Hours Marathon with 100% coverage for the adult side! We will be organizing a 24 hours marathon for teen side in July!

Quick updates on my end!

Sharing Circle: We made some big changes for both the adults and teens side. Healthy Habit sessions discontinued and replaced with Sharing Circle sessions. As well as made some changes to introduce the 4 Mega Sharing Circle Hours for the teen community.

Chatroom Guidelines: We rolled out a detailed version of the Member Chatroom Rules to ensure we are all on the same page when it comes to participating in the chatroom and keeping it safe, compassionate and supportive for everyone.

Aging up Program: In another news, we are working on improving and strengthening the whole Aging up program to support the teen community better during their transition phase. A big shout out to @anotherfrenchtoastclub and @bookworm4 for working and helping me on this.

Group Support Leaders: First, the team of Room Supporters grew up to 100 team members. Also, @cuteOrange213 joined us as the teen GSTSL to help and support the activities and the team for teen community. And, last but not least, listener chatroom leaders are working to improve and strengthen the support system in the listener chat rooms.

Tazzie : Subcommunities Coordinator

The month of June has been an outstanding month for our sub-communities.

The subcommunity leadership has grown so much in this month alone. There were 6 Community Mentors/Teen Stars, 8 Forum Supporters,14 Project Agents and 1 Teen Star Leader onboarded in the various subcommunities. Please join us here to congratulate our new leaders.

Events:

With another month, comes more events. Our subcommunity leaders worked hard and put their efforts to make events like Pride Month, Global Day of Parents, and Let it Go Day possible. Check out the entire list of events we hosted and celebrated this month here.

Subcommunity Growth Paths

The subcommunity leadership team has also successfully completed 21 of the Subcommunity Growth Paths, as part of an initiative to have individual, personalized growth paths available to introduce members and listeners to the topics addressed in each subcommunity. Be sure to check out the Growth Paths here.

SoulfullyAButterfly : Programs Coordinator

The Content aspect at 7 Cups has had some exciting changes recently - we have relaunched the Q&A Approval Team as well as relaunched the Content Volunteer Team (apply by clicking here) with more structured roles and positions available. If interested in gaining a guided experience for content related to mental health both on and off 7 Cups, consider joining the Content Development and Marketing (CDM) Academy Program.

We are also still interested in having users join the Lightship team for social media-based content outreach as well as support. If the leadership aspect of this area interests you, consider joining as one of our Lightship Assistants

Our Translations Project continues to be another opportunity for those interested in globalizing mental health awareness and support: you can apply for either the app or site projects! @itssoren has recently joined the project as team leader for the French (CA) language, and we aim to expand and complete our current app as well as site translation projects.

As we approach July, we are looking forward to celebrating 7 Cups’ 8th birthday - stay tuned by following this space to contribute and celebrate with us!

Evelyne : Quality Specialist

This month has been focused on revamping and reviving two of our Quality Track teams. Listener Coaching Team (LCT) is now run by 7cups.com/@Mango3, and has a brand new look and goal. This team has refocused on helping listeners work on their skill building. A Listener Coach is there to help you succeed and create strong listener habits as you progress on your listener journey. Want a Coach to help you learn? Sign up to have a coach contact you here. Want to become a Listener Coach? The application is here. Please note you must be a mentor (any track). If you are not already a mentor, but would like to join the LCT, please fill out a Quality Mentor application here after reading the criteria.

We have also revamped the Care Team (CT) and expanded their visibility across the site by adding them to the Quality Mentor application. A Care Team Guide follows up with those who need help in the Listener rooms and helps new listeners with resources. If you want to get help from a Guide, fill out the request form here. Want to join the Care Team? Application is here. This team is led by 7cups.com/@Mango3 and 7cups.com/@Lueurspace if you have any questions.

Additional teams include Active Listening Grading, Safety Patrol Outreach Team, Safety Patrol, and Safety Awareness Team. If you’d like to join any of these teams, please contact me. We’d love to have more people help us spread quality and safety throughout the community.

Dear Glen:

They are all amazing news !

But, continuing our conversation, I think fixing the system should take priority over adding new functionalities.

Last time, I told you that group-chat was working OK (compared to Forums and 1-2-1)

This morning 10 am EDT I hosted a session, and it went very glitchy.

Many messages from participants didn't appear.

Others appeared for an instant and then vanished.

Some people entered the room (they later told me by PM) and they were not seen, nor their messages.

A technical hint: refreshing the screen (Ctrl R) did help a bit.

Sorry for this bitter pill, but I felt I had to tell you about this, as you are the only liaison I know to the technical team that runs the site.

Thank you for all you do to alleviate the suffering of so many people, improve their lives, and make the world a better place!

All the best !

Marcelo.
