October 2022 Community Update!

I hope you all are well!

A big shout out to @cheerymango and all of our community leaders in shepherding through big changes in the communities. That took some definite getting used to, some flexibility, and lots of perseverance. Thank you for the guidance!

Another big change was the revamped site with several design changes. You might have noticed the changes in the site looking more crisp and the general queue banner color update for listeners. Thank you all for the flexibility and the feedback to help us finish up the change. I know sometimes these types of changes can be uncomfortable to start, but then we warm up and get used to them as things progress. Thank you for hanging in there!

One last update - I have mentioned advanced forum search a few times in these last updates. We will have this new search functionality launch soon. I’ll keep you posted!

Hello, everybirdy. Another month down, and the festive season is already underway for many of you! I hope you’re all able to have fun and enjoy well deserved downtime!

I’d like to direct your attention to two campaigns you can get involved in: 1. The 30 Day Accountability Wellness Challenge which exists to help you build and stick to habits you set for yourself, and wellness goals. Keep in mind you can go for longer than 30 days, or switch up your goals each month! There’s no limit to holding yourself accountable and the community is behind you every step of the way. The more of us participate, the more we can buddy up and encourage each other to stay motivated. Please give it a try!

2. Our ongoing Leadership Spotlight which highlights leaders YOU nominate!

We continue to incorporate feedback submitted through our official form to keep building our ideal community. Tech items are raised for consideration to our dev team and all domain-related feedback is also relaid to the respective leads. We have gleaned a great deal of helpful insight from your submissions and will keep implementing suggestions that are actionable. It has been a big month for 7 Cups Academy, we have been hosting Academy Fall Events! These are academy events spread over 5 whole weeks with each week’s theme revolving around a different program. We hope that through the events, our community can get a better understanding of the opportunities available at 7 Cups Academy.

Additionally, new academy program posts were created with additional information on what the programs offer so you can best decide if it is a good fit for you. The new posts can be found here:

We are grateful for all of our academy events hosts and participants for hosting and participating in academy events. Lastly, the academy leadership team met for our October Leadership meeting and discussed team building activities. This month on Sharing Circle front, we launched a featured card that will appear on the dash for most of the members and you can click to join the Sharing Circle to take turn and share. We want to ensure each and every member have the equal opportunity to share and feel heard and supported.

Also, we started working on increasing the support for our Veterans and will keep you updated on the progress we are making on this front.

We also did a quick Listener Group Chats Leadership Survey following by Member Group Chats Leadership Survey to align and support our group chat leaders well. We addressed a bunch of areas and will keep the leaders updated as we address other challenges in the next month and so.

On the Active Listening Test front, @Harsvin and team made some more improvements to make the Active Listening Tests easier for everyone as well as recruited 6 new graders to keep up with the swift grading and badging process. If you are a listener and you didn’t complete the Active Listening Tests, then this is your opportunity to complete them from Training page (last 4 trainings). While on the Verified Listener front, 51 listeners successfully promoted to Verified Listener Level. You can apply to become Verified Listener here!

This quarter has started off with a great Flourishing Challenge currently underway - community challenges like these help you build connections with other community users while working on common goals. Flourishing is a great outcome of being at 7 Cups and working on our wellness. Both listeners and users can now also view different Assessments including the Flourishing Test to help determine how well you are thriving and your strengths/things you can improve.

This month also has had Season 2 of Huddles being launched - we are 3 weeks in and are already loving our connections and deeper exploration of different topics. This season, our Huddle topics include areas like Self-Care & Compassion, Stress Management, and even exploration of a Positive Focus - if you are interested in joining a closer group to explore the topics that are meaningful to you, applications are still open.

Huddlers, Huddle users, gain access to a private forum area and to further expand on these closer connections in between official group meetings, we are trialing a Huddler Common Room currently open 24/7. These areas help us create further safe spaces for exploration and connection.

I look forward to more therapeutic activities and events, more connections and more exciting features for our community in the upcoming months this year!

The Anonymous Evaluations Team has been creating guides for listener skills thanks to @Midnightraven999! We are using the data collected to better enhance our listeners' skills. Thank you to @FrenchMarbles and @Internalacceptance for all their hard work as well! This team has been diligently forging a clear path to quality and safety among our listening community.

The Listener Coaching Team and Care Team have been working hard to provide coaching and care to the community. They are currently in recruitment mode! Please reach out to @Chevy81 if you are interested in joining either team. We've seen a big increase in requests lately and are proud of the success this team has had.

Safety Patrol is also currrently recruiting! Led by @Midnightraven999 and @Rebekah, they are interested in having more people help increase safety among listeners. Please PM them if you'd be interested in joining Safety Patrol, which is a pre-cursor to Safety Patrol Outreach Team.

A few updates from what has been happening this month for the subcommunities:

1. There has been an increase in forum activity which is a good thing because that means more of you are getting familiar with the forums and gaining access to more support from the communities. But with the increased activity, we have noticed that there are users who are misusing the forums. If you see anyone violating any of the forum guidelines, please use the flag option 🏴 at the bottom of every post and flag it so the forum flag team can remove it as quickly as possible. Alternatively, you can write to forum@7cups.com with a link to the post and username if necessary.

2. We have made some adjustments to the Subcommunity Leadership Check-In Form to better support our subcommunity leaders. All forum supporters, community mentor and community mentor leaders are asked to fill out the form for the month of October so we can keep updated on what’s going on in your team and roles and see how we can offer our assistance.

3. We are looking to expanding our Leadership team and welcome all those who are interested in helping out with processing applications, helping communities with engagement or hosting events to apply HERE. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
