I'm happy to see that we have a topic on a physical illness, would love to see one about physical illnesses in general though, as we will never have a guide for all of them.

I was a little surprised to see the diabetes one is specific to type II. Most of the info in it could be applied to the other types, so it feels uneccessarily specific when it could easily be more inclusive.

As a type 1 diabetic myself, I'm not a fan of that help guide. In fact, the thing that is annoying me most about diabetes is that most people assume that it's my fault that I'm unable to get my blood sugar levels under control solely with a change of diet or more exercise. When thinking about diabetes, most people think about type 2. Naming a guide that's only focusing on it a "diabetes guide" - why? There's more to diabetes than stuff that you can influence easily with your behaviour. I do not have a choice - from day one - other than taking insulin. Despite changing eating behaviour, exercising more, and losing quite a lot of weight.

If I have to explain to any doctor one more time that it's impossible to manage type 1 with either of those, I may just go mad. People who've got nothing to do with it - I kind of understand this. Medical professionals - not at all. Yet it happens. A lot.

And calling information pertaining only to type 2 diabetes a name that implies it's the only form of diabetes... makes me a little mad, tbh.

Sorry about ranting, I may be a little unfair in what I said, but it is something that is annoying me greatly. I may be the only one who feels this way.

- Sam, type 1 diabetic diagnosed when I was 17, underweight, and unable to avoid insulin from day one.
