August 4: Newbie Badge Shows in Chatrooms
Hey Everyone!
We were all new once! We know how it feels! @heather recently created a problem solving thread related to the Newbie badge. You can check it out here.
The problem we are trying to solve is - New listeners and members entering group chat rooms don't always feel acknowledged or welcomed. They can find it difficult to get involved in the conversation and leave feeling unsupported.
As many of you noticed, last Friday we pushed this live. I apologize for not making an annuncement sooner. The Newbie badge now shows in all of the chatrooms!
If you see a Newbie, Please make them feel welcome, give them a warm hello and show them what 7 Cups is all about. Being new can be scary, so its our job to make people feel like they belong.
The badge expires after 4 weeks!

This thread is such a good example of community problem solving - 7 Cups responded to a need raised by the community in forums and suggestion boxes by making the newbie badge, the community responded with feedback on how to make it better, and the community managers responded quickly to understand the feedback and ask questions to understand the best steps forwards to make this even better. Things like this make me really proud of this community! Thanks to all involved!

Can we possibly have it linked to the requiremts to get Supportive Smile? I feel like members having two visible badges is unnecessary. Some moderators don't even have two badges so it makes it confusing. It could help with a new color but I think overall, if they have met the requirements to get that badge, they are familiar with the site :) listeners can have the requiremt too (just of course they won't get the Supportive Smile badge :P)

the newbie badge is pretty good addition !
if it's color can be changed in some time in future that would be really cool, i think. I would like to vote for any pinkish/reddish shade as this shade isn't of any badge right now and can be easily differentiated from mod badge.
How do we get badges that replace the newbie badge?
