January 26: Updated Android App Release!
We are thrilled to announce that the latest version of the 7 Cups android app will be released tonight! woohoo!!
@Krinkthemellowunicorn will follow up shortly with more information about the updated app and what is new!
If you are an android user, we encourage you to download the latest version!
As usual we are collecting feedback & bug reports! Please submit them using this form!
a funny thing happened on the way to the Play Store...
Update: It looks like the app is stuck right now in a sort of bureaucratic limbo. There is an error message from Google related to our store listing that is not, to be honest, crystal clear.
I am working with their process to get the app unstuck and into your hands.
I'm sorry to build up excitement and then make people wait.
Personally, I am climbing the walls with frustration. In one way or another I have been working on this app since I joined 7 Cups last summer. I was looking forward to everyone getting the update today.... but I will persevere.
I really hope you'll agree the wait was worth it and I will update this thread the moment I get news.
btw, this @KrinkTheMellowUnicorn posting from my test member account...
I'm Krink, and I approve this message :)
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
That made me smile!
@Laura - smiles are free. hugs cost extra!
Did you consider making the app for Windows Phone users? I'd love to use 7 Cups of Tea on my phone, too.
It works really well now. It doesn't freak out when I get a text message from my actual phone. Now I can use the mobile app! Huzzah! I also love the new layout. Nice design. 😊
@CalmingStar were you able to download this from the play store?
@GlenM Yes, I was able to.
Guys, how do you logout or switch accounts in the android application???
@User1997 - in 2.1.7 you use the gear icon in the upper left of the chat tab
in the upcoming version you use the right slide-out drawer
Looks like it finally made it (version 2.5.2). Hope everyone enjoys it, but please let us know if something isn't clicking. We really want to make this work for everyone. :)
@ezraBC thank you Ezra!
Yes, all, please download and let us know what you think!
@GlenM Thanks it's great!
this new update is AH-MAZING! Thank you guys!
@cuddlyHugs123 - yay!
@cuddlyHugs123 - now we need to get some more good reviews on the Play Store (hint, hint :D) so we can build momentum and spread the word far and wide!
This one is more interactive and definitely better...You have quicker access to things. Till now running smoothly. Great job!
Tested the app on Z3, is smoother now for sure, bit more bug-free and overall experience is better.
Just as an idea, it would be awsome if the UI is adapted to the new "Material Design" which Google introduced with Android L. Would enhance the experience of the app and probably make it smoother.
Elsewise, just some UI stutters, nothing too serious. Great job with the update!
@Saadatx - we are making a cross-platform app with similarities across iOS and Android so until we go fully native we probably won't adhere entirely to Material design principles, but... we will take steps that way to make the Android app more native, like for instance the drawers should slide out over the main screen and not from under as on iPhones, and we could add the (+) element, and we need to make sure the back button behaves well, etc.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
absolutely understand that, admire the principle to keep it similar across the Systems. Also thanks for the reply!
As an update, I found a few bugs this morning and some issues with the text editor, so I put out a 2.5.3 update that should address the top 5-10 issues
We hear some people are having trouble logging in, getting the drawers to open, or are getting a white screen.
If you have any of these problems please reply on this thread with the problem you have and the version of Android you are running. This will help us track down the problem.
Thanks!
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn u guys really need to make a whole new app with martial design take whisper as a goal and a good example ;)
@Moudy514 - thanks for the advice - things may be a bit more complicated than you realize.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
Just wondering I also have a listeners account and I'm not sure how to easily log in and out on this app. So far I've just resorted to uninstalling it and re-installing it. If someone could show me the easier way if really appreciate that! Thanks :)
@sakoray94 if your two accounts have the same credentials you can use the Switch Accounts command im the right drawer. Does that work for you?
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
Um I have them set up to two different emails does that matter?
@sakoray94 - it's fine but then you just have to log out and log back in, like on the website.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
Will it do it on the app?
@sakoray94 - do what? (sorry)
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
Never mind I found it haha I was being silly! Thank you :)
@sakoray94 - no worries... with no tour or pointers the new app is a bit of a treasure hunt
@sakoray94 I can't figure out how to switch on the app either
@bethandowls there is a right slide out drawer, so swipe from right to left, and a menu will come out, I believe it's the second option that says "switch accounts". Just select that and there you go!
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
I had a conversation with you and a few other listeners but I can't access any of them how do I do it now
