June 1, 2016: Video Update From My Desk!
Hello All!
In my first edition of the community update podcast, I discuss:
1) 7 Cups Welcome Committee Accomplishments in May - Learn more here
2) Member: Strike-A-Streak Campaign - Learn more here!
3) 7 Cups Summer Internship - Learn more in the forum here
4) Collective Inllegence & The Wisdom of Crowds
5) A shout-out to our teen community
6) A welcome to all new members who've joined this week!
My intention was to keep the video under 5 minutes... but this one is 6! Whoops! I will try to keep these as short as possible!
Enjoy!
@Laura
This was lovely. I think it's wonderful to hear how much progress has been made by listeners and members alike. I also liked the story you used as an analogy to encourage everyone to express their own unique thoughts and ideas. The closing piece providing people new to 7 Cups with some suggestions on how to acclimate themselves to the site came across as very warm and approachable.

I really enjoyed this video update. I'm looking forward to future videos
I really enjoyed the story about collective intelligence. More often than not, especially in large groups on the internet, people's "voices" and opinions can get drowned out and easily looked over. If we let people know right from the beginning that their input matters, no matter how big or small, they may feel more comfortable to share it.
@Laura Whao I loved this Ive been waiting for this I am so happy the welcoming committee was mentioned!
I really thing the wisdoms of crowds is a great concept
anf the second best option for this community after just asking me what to do -LOL
@Laura Awesome video, Laura!!!! And you're so pretty!!!!

Really cool! I feel like these videos will definitely add to the motivation of listeners and members to grow! :)
@Laura, this video update was wonderful. The ox story was brillant. I went through a teacher training many years ago for cooperative learning groups. The "motto" was "All of us are smarter than on of us." Tis true! I enjoy knowing what's going on in different parts of our community, ones that I'm a part of and ones I'm not a part of. It gives me a better sense of how we're all working together to guess the weight of the ox.
I look forward to your next installment.
@Laura - I loved this. The story of the ox particularly touched me, because I have always been scared of being part of a community, but here at 7 Cups things have become less scary for me and I don't feel the pressure of getting it right every time or the fear that someone else won't agree. I'm just part of the collective, I'm just one voice, but now I feel like my voice matters even if others don't agree, because collectively we come up with the wisdom we need. Thank you so much. I really appreciate the time you took to do this.
