November 11/27 - New Version of the ios & android apps!
yup yup yup
there is a new version of the app! yay!
The updates include:
- We made it a bit easier to get around the community forums.
- We fixed the bug that broke the upvote button on some forum posts.
- We tightened up a few nuts and bolts.
Hooray! Please download and enjoy!
And long term, we are continuing to make the app stronger and faster. We have hired a new app developer to work on this exclusively! Get excited for a better 7 Cups app !
@Laura can ya'll work on a night mode version of the app? Sometimes you need support at times when you cant get to bed because of anxiety and other factors and the bright light from the blue and white theme doesnt help at all. It would be really awesome!
@BlueOctopus that's an awesome suggestion it would help alot...
@laura the app still does not let me upvote or delete. But the lite version does
@SouthernFlame mine wont let me even see my up votes, let alone upvote someone else. Apple version of the app.
Laura
UPDATE - ios is not out yet. ANDROID IS OUT !!
@Laura
that makes sense
@Laura Ah, I was wondering what was going on since I didn't see any updates available with my iPhone. Thanks for the update, and look forward to the new app update. :)
@Laura I am on 4.0.10 18-Aug-2018
there is no new update at that moment.
Android Version : 9.0 Pie
@imkapil same here

Yassssssss finally
Hi
Possibly I missed this change. Is the app now members only and not guests ?
In addition, it would really help me as a listener if more members would declare their topic category in their chat request. Not all listeners are qualified to chat or listen on all topics. At least Im not
Yes, the app requires an e-mail address (even if it's fake) making it for members only. Much of the website, including this forum, is still visible to guests, although guests cannot interact on the website.
The new version of the iOS app still hasn't reached me here in the UK. Two other apps updated today, but not 7 Cups.
I am unclear what "qualified to chat or listen" means. As a listener here my aim is to provide emotional support, and the topic is irrelevant. The topic might be relevant if a listener found it upsetting or triggering, or if a listener made the mistake of trying to give advice or make suggestions. Many chats, perhaps most, start off about one topic and end up about something else.
For example, a member might pick the category Depression, because that indicates how they feel. But five minutes into the chat it might become clear that the reason for the depression is a relationship issue, and that's what they really need to talk about in detail.
For these reasons, I don't personally find the category useful.

When I was in the depression chat, I couldn't return to the chat room menu to join another chat room.
Android app
I'm still confused by this announcement dated November 27th. The only version I see for iOS dates from October 4th, while the Android version was updated on December 2nd. So was this announcement pre-announcing a new Android version, while on iOS nothing changed?
The current version number for iOS in the App Store is 4.1, for Android Google Play says the version "Varies with device" and on the website it's 4.2.1. I was hoping I'd see 4.2.1 for iOS, but this hasn't happened.
By the way, checking for the iOS version was a depressing experience. The button's popup title (at the bottom of this page, for example) contains a spelling mistake, "lonelines". And in the US App Store the three reviews it showed me all said bad things about us
Good news and bad news!
The good: The app finally updated to version 4.2 on iOS here in the UK. The update is dated December 19
The bad: It still doesn't let me log in. No error message. Still can't get past the Welcome back! screen
@RarelyCharlie
Yay, I just downloaded the latest IOS update, and it works great so far. I am so happy that I can do upvotes again in the forums. Also, my forum moderating tools are back and working properly. 👍🏽
Major shout out to @john7ux and the tech team for all their hard work and dedication! 😁
Just had an issue on IOS app where it wouldnt show #383 for path. There was just a long line with a back arrow. Workaround was viewing someones feed to get to next cup.
