SubCommunity Role Titles added to profiles!

Hi Everyone,

All role titles are now listed along side the community name you help out in.

Many of you are already part of the community centered moderation update! The result has been that we have removed your global moderation badges. To ensure your role titles are still clearly displayed on profiles - we have added the below to each prublic profile.

Similar to badges, each role titles has auto-removal criteria. If you do not meet the criteria for a given role, your name will automatically fall off of the SC leaderlist.

Ex. If you are a forum mod in depression support community. You are required to make 10 posts per 30 days/ one month. If you do not, your name will be dropped automatically from the Depression support leadership list and you will no longer have this privilege. The title will also be removed from your profile.

Thank you for updating this! How will this affect other roles; such as Forum Supporter and the others aside from Forum Mentor?

@Emily619

there should be no impact on those roles!

@Laura - Forum Supporter also has a minimum posts per month requirement and badge auto-removal - wouldn't this be the same for Forum Supporters then?

@Anomalia

Yes - auto-removaal criteria is the same for the badge & the leadership list.

Ex. If you have forum mentor badge - you must post 10 times in 1 month. Or the badge will be automatically removed.

OR you do not have the badge, but you are on a SC leaderhip list as the forum mentor. You must post 10 times in 1 month or you will be removed from the leadership list automatically. AND the title will automatically fall off your profile.

I hope this answers your question!

@Laura - My question was to confirm this is also the case for Forum Supporter because you responded above that this does not impact Forum Supporters, but I believe it does since that is a role with an auto-badge removal.

I really like this addition. It makes finding a persons involvement much easier to spot! I have one minor complaint, though. I would prefer to have the big text be our community name, and the small text be our role. With the way it is now makes it seem like our privileges are more important than the community were providing support for.

@ZizyTheTurtle Yes, you beat me to this suggestion! I also feel kind of dizzy looking at it this way, for some strange reason. I think because my brain is used to looking for the community first.

The new update is much better as it allows to find a certain leader more easily however I would like to go with @ZizyTheTurtle that the community name should be made larger than the role title as we are showing the community name first in the community leaders list and then the assigned role.

I would like to add another idea to place the two texts horizontally instead of vertical alignment as the width of the tab is not much to allocate two text bars and it looks bit crowded too. After horizontal placing the tab will look like this.

@tinugeorge it would make a very LARGE column of this way, if you take from my roles and subcommunities!

@vivelespatates Yikes. No feed for you. Your whole screen will be covered with your community name & roles.

If we consider both the maxima and minima of name groups and arrange in this order then it will be managable to have both name groups in the horizontal alignment @vivelespatates smileylaugh

@ZizyTheTurtle I totally agree that the subcommunity should be more important than the role in it

@ZizyTheTurtle wow this is a great suggestion and it makes a lot of sense to focus on the community instead of the role that person have!

@Laura wow, that is a great update! When I saw it yesterday, I was so excited as it looks much more better now cheeky

I only have a question... Is the requirements will be linked to subcommunity also? Like if you are Forum Mentor in LGBTQ+/MOGII, you need to do 15 posts per month in that subcommunity? Because I would make a lot of sense!

@RaCat - Great question! My understanding is that to this point, the system has only been able to track total posts, not posts within a certain area, so unless that has changed, it will still be based on total posts. I would love to see it tied to the community if possible (now or in the future), though! Would also likely help people really focus into the communities they choose to support.

@Anomalia I remember I dicussed it a bit with Laura and she said that someday it will be linked to subcommunities but I don't know if the day is now and if I understood her right so that would be so cool and useful because if person is in 4 teams they should be doing the requirements for each team so like 4* in total, if that makes sense?

User Profile: Laura
Laura OP February 1st, 2018

@Anomalia

yes, its total posts! Id love to have it be linked to specific community area tho in the future! And I think its a good personal goal to set - make sure all your posts are in your SC. So a personal honor system !

With auto removal, will the support session leader role have the same requirements as group moderator?

User Profile: vivelespatates
vivelespatates January 31st, 2018

so there is no longer a limit of 3 ?

@vivelespatates - There is still a limit of three categories for the forum team - the screenshot shown is for Laura's account where as a CM she is listed as a leader in more areas than a typical forum mentor or forum supporter.
