Site Design Updates Live Now
Hi everyone,
We have updated our site design templates to make sure they are up to date. This site update will only be available on the web versions so you may notice several changes in how everything looks!
One key change with the design templates is our General Request queue for listeners - we have switched to yellow instead of red for the banner color for a higher chat request count.
@SoulfullyAButterfly
This new chatroom layout is causing bit of a hassle.
@SoulfullyAButterfly I really appreciate the change seen in cups and how it shows our dedication to improvement.
But like many posts made here, I agree it's counter productive. I've witnessed updates across the chatrooms, forums and general layout. These changes do look attractive, but I feel that's about the extent of their actual usefulness.
After holding a discussion in the Teen Listeners Chatroom and in 1-1 private messages with listeners I have witnessed there's a general consensus of dislike of these changes. Many of them have caused frustration and confusion, some listeners are considering leaving leadership roles or even the site as a whole due to just how difficult it is to navigate and enjoy now.
I want to discuss these changes and the feedback I've found upon them:
1. Nonification layout and functionality: The changes in the layout of the nonifications have been detrimental to being able to accurately navigate the sites updates and personal updates, I especially find it frustrating that in order to delete nonifications I have to individually press on every single one, upon this It's also frustrating that it has moved, and is now a two step (at least) process to access them.
2. Chatroom Layout: In the Teen Listener room and other chatrooms the change in names and icons have made the layout of the chatroom messy to view as the sizes and location of usernames have enlarged and shifted. This was something in my group discussion I found was particularly annoying to those in the chatroom, it's also unfortunate to see the change in the heart :(, I saw this comment mentioned in another post in this thread and wholeheartedly agreed, the red colour of it before showed compassion and was 'warm' which now feels cold. Understandably a house theme is wanted across cups but that read heart I feel was very close to a lot of people's experiences.
3. Forum subcommittees: As a peer support the forums are a very important aspect of my experience and work here. As a result of changes in this area I now struggle to navigate and post at all, this demotivates me a lot to participate and among other forum supporters this experience is similar. I know of one listener who even dropped out of forum supporting because of how tough it was to adapt to change now. The aesthetics of the forum are beautiful, I love the little icons....but these aesthetic changes have mauled any functionality of the forums. I can no longer explore communities easily so I am limited to explore the communities I have already joined, It's hard to navigate individual forum communities, I've seen a change in participation in some areas of my community as I believe it's difficult for people to navigate these areas. Making posts is also harder as some buttons do not function (for example the font size, as I cannot physically change font sizes anymore)
4.Profile and general site Layouts: On the site the general layout had shifted and became more difficult and overwhelming to view. Profiles have been stretched to fill the whole screen which I feel is too 'messy' it gets overwhelming to read information with no blank visual spaces which were previously on the site.
I'd appreciate if these concerns were genuinely looked into :( I have yet to find a listener who enjoys or likes the new changes
I'd suggest that Changes met with feedback, especially negative feedback are positively addressed in a way that prioritizes functionality and accessibility. Perphaps a site-wide feedback form may be valuable to consider as an option to tackling these issues, as I understand there will be more than what I have mentioned and it is imperative to reflect to maintain the sites function and work :)
It's tough to see functionality sacrificed for appearances....when our whole objective is to provide functional support and community.
@KatieTheBigRockOne
Agreed Katie.
Is there meanwhile a statement by the owner and manager of the design department about this totally failed update ??
I think I am not wrong, that we do not talk and complain here about smaller issues. Too many relevant "old fratures" are out of function e.g. mute button is still not working for me which is annoying spammers have free hands.
I think the person front the 7C team of responsibility for this update should have the courage to step up and explain what counter activities have been planned.
For now it looks like a very unprofessional handling of this design super gau.
@Linux2022
@7CupsCommunity
am i the only one that likes this new update ✋🏼
@sophielations No. I like it very much.
The subscribe tag for the forum post, I simply don't know how it work. before I would unsubscribe if I want to, now I can't. how it work? and the notification,,, now I'm clearing the notifications on the panel and on the bell. is there an easier way
Thankyou for the chat and forum notification icons being back to where they belong.😭❤
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Fist thing I noticed today and it made me very happy.
😀
@Kickan75 Kiiii, yes yes, super happy hehe. ❤
I can feel my anxiety levels reducing now the notification is back to the original setting. Thank you.
Cannot thank you enough for changing back. The rest of the changes are great
One wonders if the person or team who designs and makes changes is actually using the website either as a member or listener. Also, those changes ought to be tested by the powers-that-be (verified listeners?) before they are implemented.
One thing that DOES seem to work now is the tagging. I used to have to scroll a lot to find the relevant post message before.
I have often pointed out, in the various surveys, what was frustrating to me with the 7cups layout (as a listener). I even wrote several emails to 7cups for help and I think I got ONE answer 3 years back.
