Hiya @AutismMamaBear nice to meet you and thanks so much for responding.

It is so inspiring to hear what you're working towards. It's incredible that you're pursuing a degree in psychology with the goal of becoming a therapist. That's a huge commitment, and your passion for topics like neurodivergence and mindfulness really shines through.

 I can also completely relate to what you said about planning things out but struggling with the execution. I think you’d find this one insightful too~ https://www.7cups.com/forum/motivation/CommunitySpace_2589/DisciplineVsMotivation_346949/ do share your thoughts if you give it a read. 😊

That's such a common challenge, and you're definitely not alone in feeling that way. It's a testament to your commitment that you're already using things like study music and break timers~ you're clearly putting in the effort to find what works for you, and we get to know it only by experimenting and trying out different things.

You're right that the knowledge of a future goal, like getting into your Master's program, can be a powerful motivator. But it's also true that we all need a little help and support to stay on track. That's exactly what this community is for. We'd love to help with motivation and finding new ways to bridge the gap between planning and doing.  Thank you again for being so open. It's exciting to have you here, and I'm really looking forward to getting to know you better as we all work towards our goals together. 💛

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou

This is a really heart warming post Sunshine💖🫂I definitely agree with you that student life of any form necessitates discipline. Everyday showing up matters but it can be really tough on days especially when we are dealing with a lot of distractions.

As far as study tips, I feel planning the day one night before, eating your frogs first, time blocking and explaining concepts to a toy or to oneself can help.

Feeling unmotivated to study on tough days, to be honest, it feels like giving up. But the intent can pull you back in if it's clear and strong. While also said, sometimes taking breaks also helps to prevent burnout.

But you know what the difficult part is, we all know what to do but there are rarely people doing it genuinely. It's so easier nowadays to give into impulsiveness☹️

I expect this place to be a collective source of inspirational energy that when visited reminds every student of their calling and prevents them from engaging in unhelpful activities that are a waste of time. To be specific, why not make this space as a reward system for all students. What do you say? 💕

@resilience2025

Aww I appreciate you for being the sweetest always, Resiiii, you make my day! 🥹🫂💖

Exactly hehe, disciple and showing up really are key to almost everything we wish to achieve in life, I feel. You’re right about the distractions and how difficult it can make of us to show up each day and to not give into the impulsiveness~ I guess it counts, that we try to limit our distractions as much and show up anyway, while also taking breaks when needed and pulling us back on the “why” behind what we do~ our intent and why it matters to us.

Here’s a post I’d like to share with you too-

Oh wow your tips are spot on amazing, Resiii, eating your frogs first, time blocking, explaining concepts and planning our day in advance~ love the mix here that promote effective time management as well as optimum utilisation of our energy and resources.

My sweet friend is always full of encouraging support and awesome ideas~ a source of collective inspirational energy is lovely hehe~ aiming exactly for that yes and yes! 🥰

Ooooh a reward system sounds really interesting to me, tell me more about what kind of rewards and how would this system work? We can definitely try brainstorming on this wonderful idea and hopefully bring it to reality here! 🫶🏻

Ohhhh myyy God!🥹💖You never have any idea of how much energetic and empowering you make me feel whenever you interact! Your texts are something I'm going to take a screenshot of to save them later and read when things are upside down.

Bless you, really bless you! I definitely agree with you, the intent and the purpose matter a lot. And having that why clear really works. However, I also feel that in this age of being students, we can go with exploring and experimenting with things afresh and anew.

Thank you for all the appreciation that you shower on me, so cute and pure! I love you so much💞And also this gif is so inspiring, somehow my heart needed this and it popped up at that very time.

Coming to the reward system setup, I would explain this more. See, sometimes, despite planning our day well in advance and time blocking it with different activities, it happens that we don't feel inspired to keep working in the long term consistently. Hence, keeping rewards after each study session like crunching on your favorite chocolate, doing a dance, singing etc. anything that makes you happy and gets you going for the next activity.

The reward system gives that dopamine which helps us stay productive and focused.

All Freaking Ways! Awwwww! I feel so good so good reading this! I'm all humbled by your words, means a lot to me Pretty Soul, Sunshine! 💖

👩‍🎓What are you currently studying (or planning to study)?

I have an AS in Human Services, and starting my BS in Human Services in the Fall.

🚀What's your dream job or future goal?

My dream job is to be a Social Worker

📖What's your favorite subject or topic and why?

My favorite subject is Psychology because it is interesting to me.

🧠Got any study tricks, focus hacks, or productivity tips to share?

I usually set a time for when I study, then take a break. I set goals for the week, and write them down in my planner which helps me to stay on top of things.

💬What's one thing that motivates you to keep going even on tough days? (Especially on tough days)

What keeps me going is my desire to help others. On tough days, I try to take care of myself, reward myself, and realize not every day is going to be perfect.

🫂 What would you like to see more of in this community? Any particular topics of discussion or support that you need?

I would love to see a Anxiety chat room. I feel more people have it, and it might help others to know they are not alone. Also, more rooms pertaining to some of the guides on here to help people relate to each other knowing someone is going through the same thing.

Hiya @Mishka1599 great to hear from you!

Thanks so much for sharing! It's wonderful that you have your AS in Human Services and are continuing your journey to get your BS this fall. It's clear that you're passionate about your future career, and your desire to help others is a powerful motivation. Psychology is an interesting subject indeed!

I love your organized approach to studying~ setting a time, taking breaks, and using a planner are fantastic ways to stay on top of things. It's also so insightful that you remind yourself to practice self-care and realize that not every day will be perfect. That's a huge part of staying resilient on tough days. 💛

Oh yes, anxiety is really common and we have a dedicated community for anxiety support: https://www.7cups.com/forum/anxiety/

There’s also different group chat rooms on 7 cups like for anxiety support, depression support, student support etc~ most of these topic focused chat rooms open only when there’s a discussion or scheduled open chat being hosted by a moderator or leader~ if you’re interested in either you can request a community moderator on duty to open the chat room for sometime or if you’d like to lead any sessions in any of these chat rooms you can reach out to @Suryansh or @AsilentObserver and they can guide you better about participating more in the group chat rooms here! 🥰

Thank you for the great suggestion and valuable response here!

Hi. I'm 15 and I'm in 11th grade, science major(: I would like to become a psychiatrist. I like topics related to psychiatry and also biology and math. I'm interested in English and I started learning Spanish in duolingo. I sometimes use some study apps like flip and forest and focus to do, but mostly when I see all the school work I have to do, I force myself to do faster(: About what motivates me, I think I see studying as a way of escaping, developing and getting what I want. And I'm a perfectionist too... I would like to see more of considerate information about school stress and perfectionism. Good luck✨️✨️🌃

Hey hey @moonlightinnight welcome onboard. 💛

It's awesome that you're already in 11th grade with such a clear goal of becoming a psychiatrist. Your interests in biology and math are the perfect foundation for that path, I feel.

I think Duolingo is an awesome tool for learning new languages~ I love its fun and easy interface also!

It's great that you're using apps like Forest and Flip to help with focus. And I completely get what you mean about seeing a big pile of school work and just needing to power through it.

You mentioned you're a perfectionist, and that drive is definitely a strength that will help you achieve your goals. But as you pointed out, it can also lead to a lot of school stress. You're not alone in that feeling, and it's a super important topic to discuss. 🫠

I really appreciate you bringing up school stress and perfectionism. We should absolutely have more conversations about those here, as they're challenges many of us face. It's so valuable to have a space where we can share strategies and support each other through those tough days.  Thanks for being so open and enthusiastic. 💛

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou

Thanks for your answer❤️ that's right perfectionism leads to more stress, but the expectations from myself, my family, school etc keep up with being more and more perfectionist. And when I have created a picture of myself, it's hard to break it, especially when I'm not even sure I want to do so.

Best wishes❤️❤️

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou

🎓 What are you currently studying (or planning to study)?

Currently studying a Bachelor of Engineering course in Robotics & Artificial Intelligence. That being said, I also have a deep interest in Social Studies, especially topics like governance, society, and policy making, so I plan to explore those alongside my degree.

🚀 What’s your dream job or future goal?

Well, while technology totally fascinates me, which is why I chose to study Robotics and AI stuff, my dream job is actually quite different from my current academic path. I aspire to serve the country as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer. That is actually the reason why I have also started exploring Social Studies, so my interest in people and my sense of purpose can come together.

📖 What’s your favourite subject or topic and why?

Favourite Subject: Physics. Physics is very fascinating, how universal principles explain everyday things, how energy moves, and how the world actually works at both the very tiniest and the very grandest levels. Another part of Physics: Astronomical Science is mind blowing too, thinking about stars, galaxies, and space just makes everything feel so vast and kind of humbling.

🧠 Got any study tricks, focus hacks, or productivity tips to share?

Some things to keep in mind that I usually do. Consistency is more important than studying for 12 hours a single day and having rest the entire week. Study 3-4 hours, but remain consistent, and you will yield great results. Secondly, REVISE. You gotta revise what you study many times. I don't have photographic memory, so I forget stuff easily (thanks, dear brain), so what works for me is consistent revision too.

To increase productivity, I would say, avoid beginning with very large steps. Often, we are not able to meet the large quotas we set; we get disappointed and leave it, so it's better to avoid aiming for Everest on day one. Begin with small manageable chunks, and when we meet those mini goals, it really feels good. Helps build up the momentum. Later, we can scale up naturally.

💬 What’s one thing that motivates you to keep going, even on tough days? (Especially on tough days)

Well, there are two things. One that no bad day lasts forever, like a battery, problems run out too.

Secondly, knowing that my hard work is gradually building up the life I have dreamt of is very motivating. Knowing my small wins, too, adds fuel to the fire, sometimes even a simple "you did well". So I have learnt to appreciate myself for the effort I put in, even when others forget to notice it.

🫂 What would you like to see more of in this community? Any particular topics of discussion or support that you need?

Great question, but let me flip it lol. You all tell me what kind of support/discussions you would love to see more of, and I'd try my best to bring it to life. Can't complain when you are the one leading yourself, lol. But I'd love to have more of Sun's positivity sessions, definitely.

Hey hey @Suryansh been sometime~ so good to hear from you!

Wow you are a total genius with such varied awesome interests. I am so glad to hear that you’re studying subjects that fascinate you and have already started to explore the ones that’ll take you closer to your professional goals~ combining what you enjoy with what you wish to do is really amazing hehe!

Government services, and working for the people to serve their purpose is such a noble path, Suryansh~ I’m super proud of you and wishing you well with your goals.
💛

Oh how nicely you have described your liking in physics and astronomical science~ love all things stars and planetary also, it truly is a humble reminder for us about how vast this entire universe is.

Hahaha thanks brain indeed xD but hey that’s such an awesome tip about revising what we study and being consistent at it~ truly agree with you, sitting with your books or material open for 12 hours and losing focus multiple times in between does not really equate to “actual studying”~ instead to dedicate less hours to study but during the times you can focus better and fully concentrate on things is so much better.

I love what you mentioned about building productivity at a momentum that’s not rushed or forced~ small, manageable chunks  at your pace rather than trying to conquer everything at once!

Wise as always, you are! Indeed, bad moments and bad days too eventually fade out and it makes all the difference to fuel our mind with positive thoughts and affirmations. Small wins are wins still, and they all add up. Keep at it, you! 💛

Aww hehe, I appreciate the flip, thank you for being open to bring more ideas to reality~ and I’m certain you’d do a wonderful job at it.
Please feel free to subscribe to this thread if you like~ people have mentioned some ideas/ topics they’d like to see more about and I hope more will share also as they come across this thread hehe~ you’re welcome to take up any topics or themes mentioned in the thread anytime!

thanks-thank.gif
