Learning a new skill
What’s a new skill you’ve learned or learning or interested to learn?
What resources did you use for it?
How does it impact your personal or professional life? 💕

@Optimisticempath
What’s a new skill you’ve learned, are learning, or are interested in learning? I am learning skills through college and learning skills on 7 Cups to be stronger at boundaries and more professional, to be stronger at listening to my clients, and to understand them better.
What resources did you use for it? I was looking things up for my social work class, and I came by this site. I checked it over, and I knew this site would help me in the long run. I could also help people and be more experienced at what I was going through in college.
How does it impact your personal or professional life? It is impacting my life a great deal. In person and personal. How it is impacting: being better at learning how to be more patient and how to handle stressful situations. It is also impacting me to grow and to understand that I am not allowed in all this. That it is okay to ask for help. I also love to learn and also will

@Optimisticempath
I am interested in learning animation (anime style) and Japanese (speak, write, and read it). I have found free resources online, but I am still improving my art skills as I finish taking an oil painting class for college.

Such a great question! 💫
One skill I’ve been really interested in lately is building better habits, big and small. It sounds simple, but honestly, habits shape almost every part of our personal and professional lives, from studying, to health, to how we handle stress.
A resource that helped me a ton is the book Atomic Habits by James Clear. It breaks down how tiny changes add up over time and how to design your environment so that good habits are easier and bad ones are harder. A few things that stuck with me:
- Making it obvious, so keeping reminders visible in a way that you can’t ignore your new habit.
- Make it easy, starting super small so it doesn’t feel overwhelming.
- Habit stacking, tying a new habit to something you already do, like “After I brush my teeth, I’ll write one sentence in my journal.”
- Focus on identity, this means that instead of saying “I want to read more,” say “I’m a reader.” It shifts how you see yourself.
Learning about habits has impacted my life because I’m getting soo much better at managing my time and energy. It’s helping me stay consistent with studying, exercising and even relaxing without guilt.

I'm currently learning more about coding - something I've wanted to do for a while. I've learned about cross site scripting, I've learned + practised HTML & CSS while building my own personal website. Now, I've began learning cybersecurity, beginning with Ceasar's Cipher.
I'm learning this through an amazing organisation named Girls Who Code and using W3Schools, Replit, Youtube and ChatGPT to help me out when I'm stuck.
Learning about web security is helping me become so much more responsible online. It's also really boosted my confidence in problem-solving and made me more aware of building safe applications.
@izzyy528
That's great, honestly same here, I'm really interested about learning about coding, as I believe it has so much scope in today's world, and can be used in every field.
@izzyy528 so so cool 😍😍 girls who code are the coolest fr xD
I’m so glad you’re utilising all these awesome resources to support your learning
web security is such a need for the hour 😮 so many evils can be avoided I guess if more people were more aware and practiced more caution..
hey maybe you can make a post on these? regrading online safety and web security for 7 cups or in general? I think it’ll be helpful for many of us 💕
@Optimisticempath
Oooo that's a super good suggestion! It's definitely going onto my to do list and I'll be doing a post or two about it soon!
tough question
almost anything i have learned gets lost at some point in my brain lol
but the last thing I learned was spotting ai speak and words in things
it gets easy when you try it and it helps knowing what person did work or who just copy pasted ai stuff
