Getting unpleasant tasks done

Most of us know the feeling of having to do something but actually not wanting to do it. Negative feelings about a task can be a source of procrastination and become a barrier to getting things done.

One way to break this cycle is to break down tasks into small, manageable parts. Another way is to remind yourself of WHY you want to get a task done and why it is a priority.

9 Tools for (Finally!) Kicking Procrastination to the Curb

Almost everyone procrastinates at one point or another. For many, the issue doesn't interfere with their quality of life. But if you find yourself continually procrastinating, and then regretting it, you could be caught in a negative cycle. Please see your doctor or talk to a therapist if you suspect those symptoms are related to your mental health challenges.

@amiablePeace77 How can you Get Things Done That You Hate To Do?

One thing I do is break it down. Okay I am going to do the saucers and then the dinner dishes. At the end I do the silverware. Breaking things down into smaller pieces in my mind makes things more manageable.

@soulsings

Good idea about breaking down tasks instead of trying to do everything in one go which can cause a lot of pressure and even anxiety!

@amiablePeace77 if I have the strength head on do whatever I am scared of FIRST. Everything after is easier!

Second: put it off slightly do something else hard to prove mastery, then turn to scary task.

I hope no one minds megonna jumping in here on this one. I had the same thing happen to me the other day.

The site has safety settings for bad words, trigger words or bad images and even if they are used innocently in a proper sentence the algorithm will pick it up as bad word or bad image and give you that code 64.

It took me about two hours to figure out the problem word in my paragraph. It was a four letter word that begins with a J. It means to leap and rhymes with pump. If I wrote the word here I would get a code 64. Once I eliminated that word, my post posted with no problems.

So I'm just guessing it's something like that. Maybe so maybe not, I don't really know but I hope this helps.

Thanks I tried a bunch of things but sent my post to Support to get them to tell me what was wrong with that post. It had no bad words or anything. Usually only get that code by posting a picture.

Thank you for explaining that❤️

@WorkingitThrough2 I do not know what they were thinking on some of the words. I once had a problem with analyze because of the first four letters.

The good news is computers keep us safe on 7 Cups even if they are not perfect.

I take it one step at a time. I make a task list, put on a good podcast or tunes in the background to get me engaged in my task and/or I change the brightness of the room. I set a time frame i need to get the task done in, so I know that during that point of the day on my task list I have something that needs to be done. I do one to two tasks i dislike daily. spaced out so that at the end of the week all my tasks at hand are accomplished. This way it helps me not feel overwhelmed and anxious.

I procrastinate on a lot of things like to do list is very big. My mental health gets in the way and by the time I get off work I am absolutely exhausted and then on the sidelines I have to take care of my 6-year-old and husband of 9 years. All at 26 and I take care of two jobs. My house is always cluttered and a mess looks more like a storage unit than a house. Cleaning and organization are a big thing for me as it was a big part of my childhood my house was always Immaculate for my mother making it look like an Ikea commercial I have never reached that expectation yet and myself. I have nice things I have furniture trinkets a giant bookshelf another things Hobbies I have not started or finished and many many cleaning tasks that need to get done. Apart from that I need to get myself into school I need to get a car and who knows whatever else comes down the road I know I will not be fully prepared for financially mentally and physically. I need help I don't even know where to start.

Many parents go through the biggest hardship to make it work for their children. It seems that you're one of these strong persons, not giving up but do what is needed. I hope better times come soon. 💙

i am not strong and being called strong does not help. I am just holding out until either I have a stroke or the kid turns 18 and I am allowed to just walk away.
