Keeping our brain sharp!
As people age, certain mental changes are typical. For instance, elderly people might take more time to remember names and words and have difficulties keeping focus for an extended period of time. However, aging also offers a number of positive sides. Studies have shown that older persons possess larger vocabularies and a deeper understanding of word meanings than younger adults.
Many factors can affect our brain health in a positive way such as the practice of mindfulness and also activities that challenge our brains on a regular basis.

Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

@amiablePeace77 Love this💚
@amiablePeace77
I keep mentally sharp by reading.
By listening to the news.
By doing crosswords.
What I've recently learnt is that age is only a number and we need to always be our own biggest advocate 💜💕

How are you keeping mentally sharp? I've been studying the Hawaiian language.
What is something new you’ve learned recently? That internships aren't always a good thing.
@purpleTree4652
Wow! I read that Hawaiian is a critically endangered language. Local people might appreciate it a lot that someone outside the country is learning it when you go there!
@amiablePeace77
Yes, it's a dying language. I only hope it will work in my favor to move and work there.
@amiablePeace77
Keeping mentally sharp.... That has been a struggle recently, as I (73F) was 5 days in coma back last April while a medical team was fighting my meningitis. When I was able to sit in bed, I realized that I took longer to resolve a sudoku, I had some aphasia, spoke back to people in the wrong language and would instantly forget information that had been given to me verbally. Obviously it is way better now, but please don't push!
Certain games, like that sudoku, crosswords and puzzles, do help keep you in shape. One also ought to stay a student of something challenging, be it art, science or humanities. The point is to challenge yourself to get better at something.
Recently, I have been learning quite a lot on Russian history in order to have a better background on the news, but I am a regular reader of Wikipedia anyway 😀

How are you keeping mentally sharp?
By not only learning new things but also by practicing things I’ve already learned.
What is something new you’ve learned recently?
No matter what, no matter how much you learn, how skilled you become, how much you improve, how much you’ve grown and evolved and changed for the better, or even if you don’t and how you stay as the same person you’ve always been your entire life, people will always think, say, believe what they do about you whether it’s good or bad with some people believing good things about you while others believing bad things about you. Also no matter how kind you are, not everyone in this world or country will be friendly towards you, like you, wanna be around you, get to know you, etc. The world isn’t as friendly as it is advertised or like we’re supposed to believe or think it is.
@amiablePeace77
How are you keeping mentally sharp?
I try to stay updated with the trends through active reading and listening (news, markets, books, social media, etc). Learning never stops.
What is something new you’ve learned recently?
That I am a human and I'm ageing which is totally normal.
@trueconfidant123
It helps to embrace aging no matter at what age we are!
@amiablePeace77
