On November 08, 2023 World Gift Day or originally Weltschenktag, is observed. Gifts should not me limited to birthdays, Christmas or other feasts. Remember, gifts can be anything, a nice note, a letter or a call, even a compliment or supportive post or a smile! It is about gifting someone a nice memory!

That's the best gift you can give, compassion and care. I hope your friend feels better. You are a good friend. 😊💜

M gift to my friends is simply my time and attention to how they are feeling checking in and being present in their lives daily

@soulsings

I gave my time and support to my family during our loss and just allowed them to vent and talk. That kind of relieved some of the tension and stress.

@soulsings good question, and I'd appreciate any ideas. The other residents here at the old folks nursing home where I live. A lot of them put money in my birthday cards. Which was so sweet of them. But I wasn't gonna take it, I was gonna give it back, but when I mentioned that in a group chat room, I was told they might be offended if I didn't accept it. So instead I want to spend the money by doing something nice for all the residents. But what???

@Tinywhisper11 I am glad you did not give it back. Refusing a gift is like an unkind word. It is better to accept a gift graciously and if you do not want to use it yourself, find a way to help others with it.

How about talking to the director or the facility or a supervisor and tell them you have this amount of money and you want it to go to the Christmas celebration and making it special for people. How do you think I could do something which would help other people feel cared for.

They might suggest appropriate gifts for some people or maybe something that could be done for the Christmas party. I cannot speak specifically because I do not know the needs of the residents there.

How does that idea sound?

@soulsings yeah at first I thought giving the money back was the right thing to do. It's my first real birthday, so recieving gifts is new to me. But that's a great idea thankyou ❤❤
