- How does it feel to you when someone accepts you just the way you are? I don't know, have they?
- What helps you to accept others as they are? I am not good at setting boundaries.

How does it feel to you when someone accepts you just the way you are?
It feels healing, it feels right cause there are many who will want you to fit in their life in a shape that they carved but so rare to find someone who make more than enough space to let you in with all your edges.
What helps you to accept others as they are?
No preconceived notions and knowing that everyone with their uniqueness have so much to offer.

- How does it feel to you when someone accepts you just the way you are? I am not sure that it has happened.
- What helps you to accept others as they are? Time, a lot of time.
@Gettingbettertoday well so you know what your looking for how would you know if someone accepts you as you are?
What are the signs when you are starting to accept someone?
@soulsings
Looking back i have been many different people in many different environments. One of them may have been me. I not certain if any of them were. I am still remembering my past.
Have you ever watched the movie ZELIG?
@Gettingbettertoday No I have not but I learn a lot from Woody Allen films.
I did not know about Zelig but found this:
Zelig is a 1983 American satirical mockumentary comedy film written, directed by and starring Woody Allen as Leonard Zelig, a nondescript enigma, who, apparently out of his desire to fit in and be liked, unwittingly takes on the characteristics of strong personalities around him.
Do you identify with that?
@soulsings
i don’t believe you accept me or anyone accepts me for just the way I am.
i don’t fully trust anyone yet fighting and challenging such thoughts are how I come closest to accepting others for who they claim to be.
people’s actions are far more valuable than words and it’s that i have a foundation to who someone is, yet it still is overcome with doubt.
@LabeledBPD I accept the fact that you do not believe anyone can accept you the way you are.
I do barely know you so there are things about you that may be difficult to accept that I do not know about. You do not have to tell me what they are. At 7 Cups the good thing is we see what commonalities we share. and do not see all the other things that are different.
So maybe I should say, I accept the things we share in common and do not judge the things we do not share in common.
@soulsings It would feel very good, help me with my self esteem issues. I would be able to accept people as they are by reminding myself that everybody has their imperfections and good qualities. That's what makes each one of us unique.
I’m not sure I’ve ever felt fully accepted by another adult. I had one friend in college that came to mind, but the friendship ended due to peer pressure by other people, so perhaps that acceptance wasn’t enduring. I’ve had people tell me since then that they like me just the way I am, but if I’m being honest I think it’s something people say sometimes to feel good, or when I’m behaving how they like at the time. Because when I confide sad feelings they get mad at me, and then I just feel lesser and rejected.
When I think about truly being accepted, I think of my children. They really do love and accept me unconditionally, and it’s a beautiful, comforting, freeing feeling.
I think I am pretty accepting of people and their various quirks. I’m not very good at taking them as they are if I feel they’re hurting me though. Then I have to talk myself into not running away, and instead giving them grace. It is my faith that compels me to do that, on my own I operate more in fear. But I want to love them because we are all human.
@PiecesOfWhoeverIWas
Wanting to love others because it's a human desire is a wonderful thing but it's also okay to protect yourself, so you do not get hurt. To me true acceptance is when people accept me how I am and not when I tell them what they want to hear, what can be the easy way to get approval. I am very sorry to hear that peer pressure destroyed the relationship to your friend in college time ago.
Nice that your kids make you feel loved!
@soulsings When people accept me as I am I am puzzled by it because I haven't had a lot of acceptance lately when it comes to my chronic illness and the professionals i have seen in the last ten years! With Fibro it is hard to find doctors and medical professionals that won't judge you for your illness and when someone finally says that they understand, and they don't judge you it can be a shock!
I can accept people as they are because I know what it feels like to have everyone judge you for what your condition is or what your mental health is! I don't want to make people feel like always did!

- How does it feel to you when someone accepts you just the way you are?
It feels weird. In am around so much negativity every day that when someone compliments me of tells me that there is nothing wrong with me, I feel uncomfortable and fake.
- What helps you to accept others as they are?
I try to keep my mind open and not make any assumptions. After talking with someone, I think about if I have any similar situations in my past.
