For me it's important that a friend is honest to me, does not intentionally lie to hurt or get something. I appreciate openness, non-judgment, reliability and compassion.

I can't say I look for "qualities". Friendship just happens like that because you spent enough time seeing that person. Just as well, because it means they have various personalities. I have a preference for those who have interesting topics to share, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they will become bosom friends.
Some of those bosom friends of mine have confided lifestyles and choices that are not for me, but I won't reprove them. I am just happy we can talk together and have a good time.
Otherwise, I am friendly with everyone, including the gendarme who recently noticed that I was a week late getting my car inspected and the loopy neighbour who uses the street as an extension of her living room.

1. I would like someone who is honest, not fake, listens and doesn't try too hard to be a friend. I honestly don't know how to describe it.
2. I've tried to include them in activities, their suggestions and mine, and ask if they want to have a coffee together.
A quality I look for in a friend is loyalty. Not as in I’m they’re only friend but ans in they actually care about me genuinely and would kill for me (I would kill for my friends). Basically us against the world type of friendship.
