Do you feel you smile often enough and long enough or do you just do a little smirk?
I do smile more than once a day. Occasionally little smirks too lol.
When did you smile the last time and what made you smile?
My sister makes silly jokes that make me smile all the time.
@soulsings
I often smile when I see the blue sky or the pretty flowers or just because I am content with how things are right now (does not mean they are perfect though 😊). Every evening I watch funny things that make me smile. To me it's like sending my brain to smiling school so it can relax from the day.
@soulsings I smile alloottttttttt😁😁 except for the early morning
Me before morning coffee....😶😑😐😐😐😐😐😐😐
After morning coffee...😋🙂🙂😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

@memyselfandmoth 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think I smile often, but maybe not long enough. I think I could smile for longer, and be more intentional and genuine. Just the act of smiling helps me feel more happy.
I smiled REALLY big when I got home from work a couple hours ago and my husband greeted me! I was exhausted and seeing his smile made me smile too.
This is a beautiful and mindful check-in!! Thank you for helping me reflect! ♥️
@soulsings
- Do you feel you smile often enough and long enough or do you just do a little smirk? No, I think I smile less often, especially during the current situation. I have noticed that I have not been taking care of myself and that has affected my mental health.
- When did you smile the last time and what made you smile? I cannot exactly remember when was the last time I smiled. It was today when my professor gave a good comment.
Thank you for posting. 😊
When in my schools moving up, I smiled when I was on stage and received my diploma. And also, when I saw my old crush and I smiled to him and congratulated me as it was like a farewell for both me and him. Wishing eachother a goodluck year in SHS journey.
That was the most happy smile I felt as I have remembered. But I do smiled often, especially with people I'm happy with I smiled a lot and laughs a lot. And I do smiled very big every time. But when I'm kind of alone, and sad, and feelings stress, that's when I miss my smile and feeling genuine happiness. But still smile upon realizing that life is still beautiful despite hardships in life. That challenges may be painful, but it is beautiful. Beautiful as it grows us into a resilience person and more on our becoming. Thank you for this! And oh, I smiled just now
@soulsings
The smiling question is a great one, because there are cultures where you are NOT supposed to smile, as it shows disrespect for the person one is talking to.
If you want to ask a passer-by for directions, an American would want to show friendliness and smile a lot while asking. In countries like Russia or Korea, it's the last thing you do!!! It can show disrespect big time.
You smile only when you get to know that person better, and at least in Korea, if the person is older than you are, be careful.
In France where I live... it is not always a good idea either.
Then there are people who just cannot smile. I have a male friend in Lebanon who is good-looking but thinks he looks like a "doofus" if he smiles, when he's got a great set of teeth.
We all have different personalities and for some, smiling is forced and actually.... it does not look like a smile because the eyes do not follow the lips.
@Fradiga thanks for showing us another side of smiling! Sometimes people think I am making fun of them if I smile.
@Fradiga This was eye-opening for me to read, thank you. Many years ago someone told me their mother did not like me because I smiled too much, and she thought it meant I was hiding something. I was just trying to be polite and friendly. There was a cultural difference there, and now I understand it wasn't as personal as I thought then.
@PiecesOfWhoeverIWas
Glad to have taken this weight off your chest!
While very American in spirit, 7cups wants to be cosmopolitan. I often JUMP to the occasion when someone posts an idea or concept which sounds "normal" to them and point out why it is just a reflection of their own culture.
@soulsings I smile quite a lot in public, with strangers and acquaintances. I probably have smiled less in what were supposed to be close relationships in recent years. I smile and laugh the most with my kids. They all have wonderful senses of humor as they're getting older.
