@soulsings

What did you learn from your biggest mistakes?

The most helpful lesson I learned is that patience goes a long way.

@amiablePeace77 yes patience is one of the biggest lessons I learned and fortitude in the face of seemingly unbearable suffering.

@soulsings

My biggest mistake was being too emotional making a permanent decision on a temporary feeling … I hurt people I love. When upset breathe and do lots of self care …..always sleep on it .. journal it …

I made amends but it took years … 🙌🙌

@SunShineAlwaysGrateful I made impulsive decisions without really thinking and talking things through. I regret those relationship errors that left me picking up the pieces.

It is tough lesson indeed. So sorry you had similar issues and glad you got through it. 💕💕

@SunShineAlwaysGrateful well it is comforting in a way to know I am not the only one who suffered. It dispels that myth of how everyone else is happy except me.

@soulsings Hiya, I’m new so I’m not sure if the tag list thing is like a “this is only8 meant for reply from these people” so if it is I apologise 😅

Ive made a lot of mistakes, and learnt plenty of lessons, but I think the biggest lesson I’ve learnt is that making mistakes is okay. I like to call them growing pains, as kids we experience strange pains that we don’t understand. Our parents tell us “it just means you’re growing”. As adults we experience strange pains that we can’t explain until later on (after all hindsight is 20/20), no one is there to explain them to us. I’ve come to understand these as growing pains.

When we make mistakes, get our hearts broken, break someone else’s heart it’s painful, but these are necessary pains. We wouldn’t grow without them. Without these pains we would still be scared little kids.

Mistakes are necessary, they’re how we learn. And usually, a mistake isn’t as bad as you think it is

@soulsings

My biggest mistake was being too trusting. I learned to be more alert and not so nieve.

@WorkingitThrough2 sometimes I let my guard down around people that do not have the best of intentions. Sorry that may have happened to you.

  • What did you learn from your biggest mistakes?

Keeping in mind a previous challenging question on this forum, I'd say that mistakes, especially the big ones, can have very interesting outcomes. What I might think of a mistake I made is not necessarily seen as such by others.

@Fradiga I hear you. Often I call it a mistake when things do not work out as expected.

@soulsings

.... but sometimes... :) they do.

This has a LOT to do with listening on 7cups. People who reach out are either unhappy in their circumstances or they just made a horrifying mistake and worry about the consequences. THIS is where you get to think about various levels of making mistakes and once you made a mistake, what kind of damage control you can think of. There are miracles also where mistakes have NO or minor consequences, but the perp is still worried.

Actually, the listener might wonder a some point in the chat that the"listenee" is making mistakes in their actions or line of thought, BUT because of your role, you cannot call them out on it. You owe them honesty, but no judgement. Tricky!

@Fradiga I have had some 1-1s with members that I thought were not that helpfui to the member but they felt much better afterwards. I think listeners cannot judge what the benefits are for the member.

@soulsings 1) You can always make a bigger one; and 2) you will survive the consequences.

@energeticAvocado1598 that seems to imply to me that things are impermanent. I have survived many challenges up to this point so I go on assuming I will make it through this somehow.
