Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check In - Saturday September 23rd 2017

Since I like you all, my 7 cups check in family, I'm going to give you advance notice. Think of it as being invited to a premier!

Next weekend we shall be holding a clean joke fest within the trauma community. Not because life's a barrel of laughs, but because it can help to sometimes see the lighter side. So what makes you laugh? What can make a bad day turn good? How can we help bring a little light relief to your day?

I'd love you to share the lighter side of life. But I'm also aware that living with trauma can be hard, so if you need support, or just to get something off your chest, this is your place for that too. Basically, you're welcome here to contribute however you wish. It's just lovely to hear from you all.

I'm not okay.

I need to get out of here. I've done everything wrong, and it's a big mess. I have trapped myself. I'm trapping myself now. I need to leave.

I've been working hard at taking baby steps toward a life I don't want. THAT is why I have anxiety and depression. Because I refuse to follow my heart. Because I'm scared.

I need to take baby steps toward a life I do want.

I have been having nightmares, every night, for a week. "Dark have been my dreams of late."

I throw away everything good that comes my way, because I am afraid it might not really be good. I see all the bad parts. And I probably do save myself some pain, but I also block myself from joy.

I'm just gonna keep going. Ignore that post. There is a reason for everything. I'm heartbroken, because I thought this man could have been the one. And it didn't work out. But I'm just going to keep going. I'm heartbroken, because I thought I'd found the perfect place to move. But I'm just going to keep going. I'm just going to keep putting one foot in front of the other. If something is meant to work out, it won't be so hard. It will just work. I won't have to try so hard. It will just work. I won't have to worry. I will just know.

What's in front of me already that's right?

I'm already feeling trapped again. I'm literally just sitting here, in the apartment. I can't tell what to do for the next right step, because I can't trust my heart. I'm afraid to. Because I'm an addict.

@singercrystalspirit You are not your addiction. Where do you want to be in 5 years? What's the first step to getting there? Try to break everything into bite size pieces and make sure to be honest with yourself. What do you want from life?

Okay, so here's my clean jokes of the day for you guys:

Ive always thought my neighbors were quite nice people. But then they put a password on their Wi-Fi.

My SMS autocorrect just changed "Im so concerned with existential anxieties it is difficult to breathe" to "I feel great".

Check out this really funny jokes: https://www.short-funny.com/clean-jokes-2.php#ixzz4tXnluatQ

@DeborahUK

Hi, Deborah and folks.

I usually try to keep a good sense of humor about things. Keep positive and all. My humor has been a big part of why I'm still alive.

Though, today I feel like I really need some support. I'm crying and just beside myself because someone told me that fighting a physical illness isn't like what my struggle is like with C-PTSD. I get that it's different, but they were implying how much "lesser" it was. I simply told them that I'm sorry they couldn't appreciate my struggle. Only to have them totally devalue me and act like I'M the one who can't be spoken to. Funny that I have to pick very carefully what topics are okay around this unsafe person. I'm hiding in my room now. This will be the final person of this miasmic negativity I cut out of my life, and the hardest one due to circumstances. Really need a hug or to toss that back and get that chocolate as said above.

@CaloenasNicobarica Sorry you had a rough go there hon. Chin up. (((GIANT HUGS)))

I tend to get the opposite effect from people. People read or hear some of what I have been through and they feel like their woe is nothing to mine and they should go and keep it to themselves. I as this, what you experience or have experienced, did it mess you up good? Me too, were on the same page and equals then.

Never feel your woe is insignifican't nor put up with someone else telling you it is. Your Awesome hon and we alle love you :)

@Raveninthelabrynth

Thanks, Raven! That makes my pigeony little heart sing.

I can understand how that must be frustrating, as well. I sure as heck don't like being pitied or that kind of thing, either. On the flipside, I can understand where the people who believe their woe is "undeserved". Was in that place myself for a while. Felt like some bratty prom queen whinin' about nothin'. But compassion and all that towards yourself, especially helped me realize that. Like you said! We're all on the same page and equals!

Sorry if I'm a little incoherent- sleepy and kinda spacy still.

Here's some cool kid crows with some pinched cigarettes in the Maldives somewhere. XD

Wonder if they'll find a friend to give 'em a light?

Just got back from emergency vet clinic. One of my remaining two kitties whom I've been trying to rehome had been sick the last week or so, and took a rapid decline over the last several days. All indications were kidney disease, and thus I had to make the compassionate call to let her be at peace.

And now I'm home, and my heart is aching.

I so wish we could all be there for you in that blanket fort, but you're not alone. I hope you see that. I'm not sat next to you, but you're in my thoughts, and I'm just a keyboard press away. Please take good care of you now.

@DeborahUK ❤️❤️❤️❤️Thank you so much, Deb. Was having trouble getting back to sleep after waking up in the middle of the night. This was a lovely message to find as I try (thus far unsuccessfully) to resettle myself.

Too many thoughts...

I'm sorry you lost your kitty. I've been wondering how the rehoming was going but was afraid to ask. (And I might have missed it while I was away from here - didn't want to dredge something up at the wrong time).

Recently had 2 vet visits for one cat within a week. Luckily, he is on the mend. We weren't sure at first. Expensive tho.

I'm afraid the above didn't come out like I wanted. I was meaning to show that I understand not "oh look, my cat lived." Truth is he's old and won't be here forever.

I very much understand how stressful it can be having pets and losing them or making tough choices. Altho I love my pets they are too much for me in our particular living arrangement. If I didn't have a partner who did most of the upkeep and seeing after my house would be a wreck. I despise litter boxes, etc.

So I do very much understand the dilemma of having pets during a bad turn in life (... which is always basically. But anyhoo).

Your kitty is at peace and I hope you can be too. 💜

@themainjane ❤️❤️❤️ thank you, Jane. Hope all goes well with your furball. 🐈

I successfully rehomed one kitty. One left to go. And yes, she's at peace now -- just need to find some closure for myself amid the grief.
