Traumatic Experiences Community Daily CheckIn- Thursday 1 2017

Can you share one thing that you have been working on and now can stand up and shout out "I'VE DONE IT!"

If you could plant a garden what would be in there? Like would you plant kindness, forgivness, love etc?

If you could be any flower- desribe what it would be, what color, its smaell, what would its name be?
I know dealing with trauma is so very hard. Allowing yourself to heal is even harder. But it takes a strong person to let themselves grow into a beautiful person each and everyone is. Just like a flower seed. It has to push and push past that hard shell, then figure which way is up or down. Push through all that soil, then one day there you see a tiny baby plant popping through the soil. Turns into such a beautiful flower after all its hard work.

Thank you for great post. It surely cheer me up and think gave me straight.
Holy moly there's a whackadoodle of triggering chat and posts on these forums. I end up bumping into them constantly that I'm hesistant to keep coming back here. My head is so full right now with what's going on for me, my health, my family and financial struggles - I am so overwhelmed by how many people here are suffering so much and horrified by how many people have been hurt in this way. Soooo much abuse. SOOO much. I can't... I just can't. It's so awful. :(
The Friday check-in thread seems to be running late, so I'll just do so here.
Passed out relatively early last night (around 11pm) and woke up disoriented at 330am. Normally I take my evening anxiety meds at 1145pm (with reminder alarm set) but could not for the life of me remember taking them, nor had I noted down the dose (my memory is like a sieve these days). Is entirely possible that I had simply shut off the alarm while half asleep.
So, rather than keep myself up all night in a state of fitful uncertainty, I just took a pill and went back to sleep. Now I'm wondering if I did in fact take a double dose by accident, as the brain fog this morning is thick as overcooked porridge soaked in molasses. Ah well -- gives me a good excuse to be slow on the uptake today. (Translation: not going to torture myself worrying and wondering, and just allow myself to be however I happen to be -- Everything Is Ok, etc etc etc).
Roommate left today on a camping trip for the weekend. A friend of hers is staying to take care of her dog and fish. Seems nice enough, but is unsettling for me to have a stranger in my house, even one who has been thoroughly vetted.
Also still have to meditate this AM. Motivation is sorely lacking, but will push against the inertia. Decidedly unmotivated in general today -- rescheduled 2 appointments & still have a message from Wed to return.
Not yet overwhelmed -- but the day is still young, and I'm still in bed (shocking, I know).
@melliotm
I like your mantra "Everything is ok"
Hope the rest of the day is met with an upswing in mood.
@themainjane Thanks, Jane :) Got the dishes done and brought in the trash cans from the curb. I think that I've earned the right to spend a bit of time in bed this afternoon playing Solitaire on my phone.
I'm so thankful for having mostly good days lately!! I'm hoping this trend continues for me!!!
@KLM3278
So glad to hear this! Yay!!

I have six to-do's on my daily goal list. I've completed three so far (the easy ones).
Having daily goals and completing them is making me feel better about myself. I am careful to make sure they are not too difficult. Small steps I can build on. I could knock myself out with one stellar big day but I've found that that actually sets me back overall as I then seem wiped out and don't perform well for several, several days.
So in this case slow and steady wins the race.
@themainjane I'm exactly the same way -- doing ALL the things ATM in one fell swoop just seems to set me back (and knock me down for the duration) in the end. Gotta take it inch by inch, at a slow, steady, self compassionate pace. Everything is Ok. :)
@RumpleSteeleSkin - I think I'd be a sunflower because it's like a cartoon, with exaggerated shape and colors.
