Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check-in Thursday 11th January 2018

Good morning all!

Thinking... what will we focus on today.. was planning to continue with resilience...reflecting on what has come out of today... and in knowing that some in our trauma family have been triggered ,have been hurt, and are distressed... thought, at times like this we encircle them and listen, and comfort them. So borrowing the words from @Tenacity in her thread, the topic is "little animals" ( the icons that have appeared)

So in turning to my favouirte bear Wiinie the Pooh, here are a few words from Eeyore : "A little thought, a little consideration, makes all the difference."

That's all from me.Leaving it up to you....

How is your day going? Have you something to share on this tiopic? Or a respone to those who are affected. Pop in to say hi! This is your space and a safe place. Love to you all. x

PS.

Sorry I misquoted Eeyore, it actually reads: " A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference." rozie.

@rozie

Hi rozie.. Hope your are well.. I'm working through my struggles at the moment and slowly moving through my fears. 1 day at a time. I have managed to ground myself successfully throughout the day and my emotions are at a manageable level.. I have a new attitude the last 2 days which is giving me strength. Sending my love out to those in our trauma family that are having a rough time and sending *hugs* for anyone who wants or needs it.. 💗💗

This too shall pass.. My strong fears will not break me..

@rozie

Hi, I'm so tired and sleepy..

But theres something that happened today and Im proud of myself. So I was at my extra school (the one i pay) and all the students including me had to write something specific as an exercise and then we would read it loud. Now my problem is that I dont want to read loudly what I'm writing cause Im afraid its wrong so I avoid that, mostly, but this time I couldnt avoid it and so I had to read it. I read it and it was correct except a line and I was so surprised and happy about it! :)

Way to go! I'm so proud of you too. I'm sure it took a ton to read that out loud since you tend to avoid it. Did you not sleep well last night or get up too early?

@KristenHR

Thanks! I slept at 3am but I haven't been sleeping well since last week. I'm always tired because I either wake up early on the morning or wake up in the middle of the night and that can also make feel grumpy for the whole day.

Hi! smiley

I'm doing alright, still struggling with some emotions but I'm trying not to be too hard on myself.

I can hear a few birds chirping outside! Hearing them sing makes me smile.

Hello Conquerer,

Isnt nature healing? It is amazing that we can take a short break from what is weighing heavily upon us and smile.

I am glad you are able to experience some joy while going through a difficult time.

This is awesome that you're not being to hard on yourself. That takes a lot to do in my experience. Do you have a bird feeder or anything? I love hearing the birds chirping outside. I like to feed them, but I can't always do that. I'm glad they make you smile.

Hi,

I love the quote you shared this morning. It has so much meaning as a little compassion for others makes everyones day brighter. It is always nice to share a smile, try to empathize with what others are feeling and most of all to acknowledge their perspective. We all wish to be heard and yearn for supportive words. Even if we cannot fix the problem, validating anothers words creates a shared moment of understanding.

It is an incredibly positive way to begin the day!

Thank you for sharing. I hope you are well.

I love this... "Even if we cannot fix the problem, validating anothers words creates a shared moment of understanding. " This is so true. And we do yearn for the support that comes with this. It's difficult sometimes when emotions run high, but what a way to help both someone else feel supported, and not have a reason to give ourselves grief over not being supportive.

the last stanza of Musee des Beaux Arts

"In Breughel's Icarus, for instance: how everything turns away
Quite leisurely from the disaster; the ploughman may
Have heard the splash, the forsaken cry,
But for him it was not an important failure; the sun shone
As it had to on the white legs disappearing into the green
Water, and the expensive delicate ship that must have seen
Something amazing, a boy falling out of the sky,
Had somewhere to get to and sailed calmly on"-W.H.Auden

once again i am sharing a quote from W.H. Auden and while this may seem an insignificant segment its full of inspiration and I can relate.

you see when Auden wrote this poem he was referencing classic renasaince art. and if you read the whole piece it speaks of masters and their understanding of the human position. To me this poem speaks of sonder and the condition that everyone is important and their tale extravagant. In these paintings are portrayed the nativity and in my excerpt ICarus. Auden points out towards not the main protagonist or the centerpiece but to the fact that not everyone is enthralled by the goings on in the scene. A fall from heavenly height and flying on wings is quite a unique and tragic experience. But as Auden points out so are the lives of the ploughman and his fields and the sailors.

Your story matters. You, my trauma family, have seen wonders and horrors most cannot comprehend, you have fought battles that cannot be seen and you woke up this morning. Your story has progression even if that means sitting in bed. You Are just as important as all the Icarus in the world and your story is valid even more so. There will be passersby who you will try to compare yourself too and it will seem that they on a grand epic of Grecian convention while you are simply in your ship drifting on the waters. This is not the case. You have an important destination. your life is the story that will not be upon an easle in renassaince. Partly because that was history, but mostly because your story is in the foreground of your own piece of art. I wish you well this day. I reread this poem upon waking and have found it much needed, if you wish to read the whole work i might be able to find a link.

Checking in. Today has been a rough day for my anxiety and triggers... Sometimes it seems like the only things people talk about are my triggers. And it caused a massive anxiety attack today in PHP. But coming here for support always seems to help. So thank you all. And I hope that your days are going better than mine. Sending out as many positive vibes as I can muster.
