Good morning to you all!

Looking to my favorite bear for a quote for today,this one seemed to fit with my thoughts,but hopefully doesn't fit with the beginning of your day.

:I'm so tired, my tired is tired." Winnie the Pooh.

Yes thinking about how it is to be depleted by trauma and to feel physically and emotionally exhausted. Its more than tiredness , its exhaustion. And many of us live with this daily. After a night of disrupted sleep, nightmares,taking a long time to fall asleep and maybe waking up early, its not surprising to be physically and mentally unrefreshed.Then its more difficult to cope with everyday life and any additonal stresses. Often followed by having to cope with the psychological strain of painful memories and emotional flashbacks and hypervigilance which drain resources and energy.Our concentration may be poor, we may become irritable. Then if we don't want others like workmates to know, there is the huge effort of hiding behind a false self and pretending everything is fine. We have children who need us to be functioning for them, and somehow we manage this too. And so we get through another day... absolutely fatigued.. but we made it!

Fatigue is a definitely a part of PTSD. so how to best manage this.Its important to reduce stress as much as possible, mindfulness, meditation, prayer, writing, exercise, talking can help to do this. Recognizing our limits and that's a hard one as we are not good at this and the inner critic would have us carry on,and not stop to rest. When there is limited energy tryying to prioritize tasks, knowing what we can do and what we can leave, like the shopping till tomorrow. And setting aside some downtime in the day.. time to relax and recharge.. its not a luxury, more a necessity. And just being kind and understanding as you would be with someone else.

How is your day going? What helps you to manage the fatigue? Do you think letting others who are close to you know that this is part of PTSD would be helpful? Or pop in to say hi! Love to hear from you.. This is your space and a safe place. x

l have awful feelings today. Drained from everything you outlined so well, @rozie. Everything just seems to be catching up with me. Got triggered pretty badly last night and I'm having trouble riding out the wave. Need help, but I honestly don't know what that even means at this point. Feel lost in the noise inside. Have barely slept, barely ate anything yesterday, every little sound is like an attack, an indictment on my inability to cope or find compassion for myself amid every racing thought and self criticism for not managing this right, etc etc etc ETCETERA. It feels too much.

I feel too much. 😢

@rozie

Hi Rozie... I'm very bad since Friday. I got one of my biggest trigger in a long time. Even my body can't take that no more. It's like I keep seeing my ''monsters'' everywhere around me. And when I close my eyes, it's like every traumas are coming back at once. I can feel them in my head. But I can also feel them in my whole body. Like the are happening right now, kind of. My headaches are back. Yesterday, I was feeling like I was drowning in my cough but it was not really... It was just the memory of people trying to held my head under water some years ago. I could felt the abuses and the pain in my body again. It is very scary... I feel quite helpless about it, quite fragile if I can say. I'm on edge and I fear everything around me. I was in big crisis this weekend also, and almost try a new attempt... but I'm stil hanging in there so... I hope it will pass soon... I'm exhausted. -hugs-

@sensitiveShade5337

You're not useless at all Shade. Look at the graphic I posted a couple posts up. Do the best you can, and that will always be enough. Even if "the best you can" is just getting out of bed at some point during the day, or making sure you eat something ❤️

Hi this is my first time posting here so I hope I am getting it right.

I am really feeling exhausted and tearful today. I am doing all the right things for myself to get better. But my situation is very hard to cope with and I am having difficulty accessing therapy. I have some support in place, but nothing that is helping me to actually deal with anything, just enough to keep existing and going through the motions. I really want to have some proper therapy to help me with this. I am incredibly lonely. Today I went to an art class for the first time trying to do something for myself. The music they were playing took me into an emotional flashback and I haven't really recovered since. That was this morning and it is four o'clock in the afternoon here. I am very low.

Things are just difficult and frustrating right now. I suffered a trauma recently that has brought back so many triggers from childhood trauma. I feel somewhat torn apart as I never thought I would be this shaken again. It was foolish of me as we are all vulnerable to events that create the ups and downs of life. My inner dialogue is very much from childhood experiences so the shame and guilt are hard to put into perspective even when kind people have remind me that it was not my fault. My tired is definitely tired as I am having flashbacks from the recent assault mixed in with some from the past. I am slowly finding my way, I believe. Leaning heavily on my support network and am thankful for the opportunity to express myself here. It is much easier for me to write. Some days are just worse than others and far more complicated when time becomes distorted on top of everything else. Sigh, sorry about the whining.

@Compassionatelistener108

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard tiime at the moment.Your recent trauma triggering chilhood trauma is not unusual but naturally you are shaken. And the shame and the gulit come back at you (the inner critic makes sure of this). So with awareness of this its a time to be kind and patient with yourself, and to lean on your support as you are doing. There will be good days and not so good days, and often its just about riding it out. Be encouraged and notice as you do, the little steps that you are taking. x
