Traumatic Experiences Daily Check In - January 29th, 2018

Hi Trauma Community Family,

I'm looking forward to seeing you here today. I've been thinking about journaling. Does anyone else here journal? If so, how do you journal - like do you write straight out, do you use craft materials, do you use art mediums instead of journaling? How do you process things for yourself, or let the stress out?

So while you don't have to answer any questions above, I'd love to hear from you. Or please just say hi. :)

Kristen

@KristenHR I'm doing alright. Taking things one step at a time, Kristen. 🐢⛺❤️ Trying my best to manage seasonal depression on top of the usual mish mash.

With regards to the check in question, in addition to writing (because writer), I use various social media (including Cups) as a means of 'journaling' (abstract, non-linear, often highly oblique but still methodical, in a sense). Thanks to physical limitations, intensive handwriting isn't a viable option for me, so I can't maintain a trad hardcopy chronicle of my journey. But I make do in my own fashion. 😊⛺

This is awesome. Glad you're holding in there.

I love that journaling can be in any form and expression. There is no right or wrong way to journal. :) I hope that others will read this and be able to share another way of journaling.

I do hope you'll be able to manage the stress with your breathing and any other coping tools that help you.

Oh wow... I love the idea of an app to journal that allows the pictures and such. I'll have to look it up It sounds quite interesting. Thanks too for sharing it with everyone. I'm sure that it will be a good option for some others - maybe even many others. I've never heard of it. Neat that it has so many features.

@KristenHR

I journal in the form of poetry or sketching. I can't just journal words because Im not supposed to talk about it. But within my poetry I can write whatever I need without feeling the guilt.

This morning is not so good. I finally managed to get some sleep but got an email which has just set me back. Its hard to feel worthy or important when those who are supposed to protect won't. Its a matter of how much more can 1 person take? So Im just totally stressed but have work in a few hours so just have to deal!

Sorry for the negativity 😞

Poetry is a great way to express yourself and to share. Sorry yesterday morning was rough. How did work go for you after check-in? Did your day get any better?

I try to journal but it usually gets all mixed up in my head. Sometimes I just write the jumbled mess hoping to make sense of it all. It helps to get the thoughts out. When my mind is quiter I like to write poetry. Occasionally I draw what is going on in my head. Having a rough time this week.

I'm sorry you're having a rough time this week. So glad you posted and shared. The good thing about journaling is that there are so many avenues to it. Whether poetry, artwork, crafty stuff, or just a jumblesd mess of what is in our mind, it's a great way of release, if you find it helpful - Thank you for sharing this. I hope others will take away from your ideas something for themselves if they haven't tried journaling yet.

@KristenHR

My first therapist just had me write down my daily thoughts.

I've been keeping a journal for years .

I also blog. There are places for themes, topics I google when I am really stuck.

I think posting in these daily checkins should count as a form of journaling. Its just, public and somewhat structured journaling 🤷🏼‍♀️😊

Im sort of struggling to do my schoolwork cuz I cant focus. I think maybe if Id had an actual break instead of having to deal with scabies the whole time then it would be better right now 😕🤷🏼‍♀️

Good point about check-ins being a form of journaling. Great approach. What helps when things are difficult to study? Anything come to mind for you? I'm sorry you're struggling, but glad you're here sharing!

hi Kristen

How are you today and the 7cups family?

Hope everyone is having a good day. I have made some major decisions about my mental health care today. Not sure that I've made the right choices but once again I have taken a leap of faith into the dark. My stress levels are running extremely high. feeling scared and uncertain of myself. Don't know if I can trust my own thought process.

I definitely believe that if we wait until perfection, we'll never be loved. It's okay to be human and to have flaws and still be loved. I'm so glad you posted.
