Safe place or person
Who is your safe person, or what is your safe place? Where and with who do you feel safe and calm?
@elizabethunter
To feel calm, I do 10 minutes of Tai Chi stretching and breathing moves in the video links below
The moves are designed to make the body and mind relax by default.
This thread shows all the moves.
This thread shows the moves as 10 second clips
to make it very easy to see each move quickly
and get the big picture of what it's all about.
In other words, each link in the thread below only shows a tiny 10 second part of the whole video.
Lots of different people are doing Tai Chi however they want to make them feel better.
Why? Because it works really well,
and is so simple and easy,
and it feels so good right away.
I like it because.. I like her voice and the music.
I also like how the moves all have names,
and the relaxing imagery that creates.
I don't really pay attention to the Chi idea.
But I do imagine gathering up and releasing all my stress so it leaves my body.
She demonstrates the moves so well.
Her movements show how to do it and really become relaxed.
All of the moves make the body naturally relax,
just like you have to relax when you tilt your head far back.
Or you have to relax when you lean your body back.
Just copy the fluidity of the moves as shown.
Breathe in when told to maximize the relaxation.
It's better than any other stretching & breathing routine I've ever seen.
Below are some of the move names.
I like the relaxing mental imagery the names create in the mind.
Calm the water (make a circle).
Push and pull the water gently.
Roll the drum over the hill or mountain.
Hold the ball of Chi.
Cloud hands.
Bird wings.
Rise and fall hands.
Gather up the energy and push back down.
It's all very relaxing and flows so nicely with the breathing.
Together it all works very well to create a feeling of in "the present calmness".
Here's the link again to the entire video.
I also have other stretching and breathing routines I do.
If interested, you can find them by searching my forum posts with this link.
Just look for the threads with CAPITAL LETTER TITLES that mention stretching or breathing.

I feel safe with my Family, I have a spot that's jus for me in the living room,I feel safe there.
I don't have a safe person but my dog is my comfort,
I really do not believe there are any safe places so you make the best of what is available. Just my personal take
I thought I was the only one who felt this, it’s scary because with the cards I’ve been dealt I have no safe space and just try my best
@elizabethunter
My brother is my safe place, and has been since I was very little. He has always been there with me through the good and bad and has protected me when possible. I feel very blessed to have him in my life
@elizabethunter

That's so true. Thank you for answering!
@elizabethunter
Thanks dear. And appreciating your efforts.
I feel safe with certain people on 7Cups. It's nice to feel seen and cared for, even if it's by a stranger you'll never get to meet and hug. I feel safe talking about almost anything with them, and this community is really helping me to understand what safety really means

Hello, I am still working on myself a safe place and a safe person. A work in progress, No one to talk to but here at 7cups. I am still working at talking in groups and to one-on-one chats. It makes me afraid and nervous. I wish I felt safe and I wish I had an outside person that could be there, but I don't.
@elizabethunter
I dont think I've a person that I feel completely safe with. I'm not sure if there is anything such as a completely safe place. But I feel safer in small spaces where no one can see me or touch me and I feel safer under blankets

I feel safe with my therapist in her office. I've been allowed the freedom to express myself and not be judged. I have seen her for almost 4 years. I don't get to see her much anymore due to finances and covid. I've been missing that feeling lately.
