Welcome to part 5 of our 7-part 7 Cups Values Series!

image_1779212806.png

I loved reading your responses to last week's prompt on Accountability. So many great reflections, and it takes a lot of self-awareness to hold ourselves accountable to our own limits! But what happens when we honor our boundaries and the journey is still difficult? What keeps us moving forward?

Cue our next value: Grit. At 7 Cups, this means driving yourself and having the mental agility to push past barriers.

Grit is a powerful mindset that enables individuals to persevere in the face of adversity, bounce back from failures, and stay committed to their goals. (Reference this post from our 10th birthday!)

Grit is that resilience that helps us stand back up when we feel knocked down. At times, we all need a little external encouragement to find that motivation to keep going.

This Week's Prompt: Share what drives you. What is a song, a movie quote, a character, or an image that captures Grit for you?

Bonus: Tell us about a time you had to use your grit here at 7 Cups (like pushing through training, navigating a tough chat, or finding the courage to join the rooms for the very first time).

@Heather225

A time on cups when I had to show grit and push through was when someone in a chat kept insulting me and then this led to them commenting and doing the same under all my posts.

I didn't respond.

I remained true to myself .

And I just let my reputation shine through and do the talking 🩵

@Heather225

as most know we been through a lot but also have  overcame  a lot too

this quote we like a lot to us say a lot too

“No matter what kind of challenges or difficulties or painful situations you go through in your life, we all have something deep within us that we can reach down and find the inner strength to get through them.” – Alana Stewart

“Being challenged in life is inevitable; being defeated is optional.” – Roger Crawford

we believe   facing the things in life head on not running from them or trying to get around them truly tell what a person is like in the end

@Heather225 Thank you for this awesome question. It told me about the movie that inspired me not to give up, which was The Lion King (1994) and Karate Kid 2010. And so on, but most of them from Disney Channel. I don't know, I really like someone who asks me about this.

What keeps me going is knowing that even a small step forward is still progress. Grit isn't about never falling — it's about getting back up, even when it's hard. One song that captures grit for me is 'Rise Up' by Andra Day. It reminds me to keep going, even when I feel like giving up

@Heather225

Just wanted to thank everyone that is contributing to this thread thus far. 😊 ❤️

I'm truly seeing everyone's comments as a gift 🎁. It's incredibly inspirational for me as a person to read and reflect on how everyone is feeling about this.

Indeed, "fall down, get up, fall down, get up" wash, rinse and repeat. There is much more to be said about a person in as to how they got back up, than how it is that they fell down. ✨

Stay great my sweet friends! 😊

*high fives* 😊 and *hugs* ❤️

Song..."Rise" Katy Perry 🎶

@Heather225 i woud say a thing i made myself [ make it count ] i used it so many times i didint want to waste my effort before i was stressed to be here but the thing that i dont know how to comment on  [example i fall they think its funny but i just get up and walk away ] like i gave up but i still do my thing]  that kind of helped i sometimes i just dont react im to tired to even spare thought

What really drives me to have grit is the experience of surviving things that were meant to break me, but still choosing to keep going regardless.

A quote that captures grit for me is from Rocky Balboa:
It ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

Grit isn't always loud. Sometimes it's just waking up, dealing with pain, setbacks, judgment, exhaustion, and still refusing to quit on yourself.

To me, Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games truly embodies the concept of grit. She consistently persevered through immense fear, profound loss, and incredibly difficult, seemingly impossible situations, all while fiercely protecting those she held close.

For me personally, grit is rebuilding your life after everything changes and still finding reasons to grow, help others, and move forward.
