Another newbie

Hi guys, I just started this month. I feel totally overwhelmed, scared & vulnerable. I don’t think I’ve ever been in such a lost, broken & worthless state. I’m 48 & struggled with depression, anxiety & trauma since my college years. I really thought I could get myself straightened out because I loved my work & found a passion for helping people.

I’ve fought really so hard & given up on myself more times than I can count at this point. I’m pretty sure everyone has given up on me, & now I’ve been living with my parents in their 70s, my father with Parkinson’s Disease & a mother who shuns me for days & weeks each time I do something to displease her. I’m in total isolation, without a single friend or relationship for the past several years. I stay in my bedroom mostly, the walls are built of shame, resentment, self-hatred & guilt mostly. I am a shame & disappointment to my parents who are really the last people on the earth who love me, which is sad, because their love isn’t the most healthy & living with parents at age 48, I’m thinking, isn’t the most healthy thing for anyone.

I’m in this situation where I’m trapped in this small town home I grew up in & while I’m constantly reminded how lucky I am that I have shelter & food, I feel I could be living a better life & Im not sure how to get “unstuck” -this whole new level of depression I didn’t even realize existed, came in & rolled over me like a hurricane, crushing; when I didn’t think I could be crushed further-taking bits of me with it-I mean, my personality, sense of humor- where did they go? My purpose, hopes/ dreams? What do we have without those? So im here. I am hoping to find kindness & support..hoping I can offer the same in return, for someone who needs a person to listen, with an open heart & kindness without judgement. I have reached out to a therapist but I’m not sure I understand that whole thing or that it’s something that can help. I’m sure I wrote too much, thanks for allowing me to be here & join you guys

i want you to bo ok @powerfulTangerine3500.

every year can bring different things, last year sent you to your parents house..  it is embarrassing and lonely i feel your pain. Hopefully this year things may improve.  Just keep focusing on getting to where you need to be by taking baby steps to your goal.  Your gonna get through this, we support you here and you still have a lot of years left to work with.

Sending good vibes to you.... 🌟💫

I'm feeling a lot of the same things. I'm experiencing burnout, unrelenting depression and a similar lack of purpose, hope, dreams, joy. I hear you and wanted to let you know that you're not alone. And also that I know it sucks! I'm trying to move through it as best as I can and it sounds like you're doing the same. Sharing can be helpful too. Good work!

I can empathetise with some of your post as I am also feeling lost, direction less with no sense or purpose. Keep reaching out, I have been since I discovered 7 Cups less than two weeks ago, taken some small steps and am learning to reflect on them, appreciate them and am finding journalling is helping with that process. Arranged an hour with a listener for this afternoon, feeling unusually positive for me and it is making a difference to how I feel day by day.

Thank you for sharing.

I can only imagine how difficult your situation is so I'm cheering you on to keep fighting!

I've noticed that the responses don't tend to include advice so, if this is unwelcome, feel free to ignore it. However, I can sympathize with the social isolation that your going through because the same thing hit me hard during covid. If there's anything I wish I could go back in time and tell myself, it would be to get a social hobby and to get out more. Whether its art, cars or working out, each hobby can make it easier to stumble upon communities and people who are more positive.

Good luck getting unstuck and I wish you the best!

Another SWEET SOUL here 💕

Hey hi Power!! 💗

Welcome to 7cups 🎉😊 I'm so happy to have a beautiful soul in our community 💖🌻 there is no word for me remain to express my happiness u reach out here 🦋💝

I read everything you shared, and honestly… it touched me deeply. That’s so much weight for one person to carry for so long. I’m not exaggerating when I say that—anxiety, depression, trauma, family pressure, isolation… it’s a lot. Anyone in your place would feel exhausted and overwhelmed 🌸

Feeling like people have given up on you, especially when it comes from family, cuts in a way that’s hard to explain. Living with parents at this stage of life, carrying guilt and shame on top of everything else—it can quietly destroy your sense of self 😔 I hear you, and I understand why it feels unbearable at times.

Sometimes we lose ourselves while trying to survive. And when we finally look around and feel like there’s nothing left—no purpose, no humor, no dreams—it hurts in a deep, aching way. That pain is real, and it deserves to be acknowledged, not minimized.

I also want to say this: I truly admire the fact that you’re still able to feel gratitude, even while you’re hurting. And I’m really glad you found your way here. This is a space where you don’t have to hide, pretend, or feel ashamed. I felt unsure at first too, but over time it helped me understand myself better and process my inner chaos 💞

So, hey power, i was abt to say this, like Ur not unloved okay!!! maybe before I'm uncertain..... but definitely not now!!!! I LOVE U..... 🤗💝 i mean it, power!!! you're not only loved by ur parents, now it's me added!!

i shower u with my love and embrace,💗 sending lots of positive vibes ✨and happiness ur way💐, u deserve more than u think🦋, i hope ur able to see the strong, courageous, beauty in u as i can see yours 🤗 Tight hugs 🤗

Hi. I really resonated with this, though I don't have parents. They're alive and out there, but we have little to no contact. I'm 49, and though ive been here for some time, I usually on get on when my anxiety is so bad that Im almost incoherent. My mental health the last few years, from trauma, abuse, abandonment has gotten worse, and I think the isolation. I have a service dog for agoraphobia and ptsd. Id like to connect, but honestly, im not even sure how to send a private message. That's why im on tonight, is my anxiety is bad and was looking for some human interaction. I hope you're feeling better.

You’ll always have a place here for you to unload your thoughts and feelings. I understand depression, was planning on not being here anymore 8 years ago. Jesus helped me overcome my pain and reshaped me. Not saying that’s what you have to do however what works for you is very important for you to identify. Message me if you’d like help with that👍

🌼 Hey friend, I hear you, truly.
Feeling lost, scared, and overwhelmed is a heavy place to sit — but it doesn’t make you worthless. The fact that you’ve been fighting depression, anxiety, and trauma for so many years and are still here searching for connection and support says everything about your resilience. 💛

You found passion in helping others and loving your work — that tells me your heart never shut down, even when life kept breaking around it. Isolation and emotional hurt can make us feel stuck and can bury pieces of us, like humor, personality, purpose, dreams… but buried doesn’t mean gone. Sometimes those parts of us just need someone safe and steady to witness them again so they can come back to the surface. 🌷✨

It also makes perfect sense that therapy feels confusing or unsure right now. When you’ve spent years surviving in silence, even healthy support can feel foreign. But you don’t have to understand it fully yet — showing up, being honest, and taking it one step at a time is enough. Reaching out to a therapist and writing this post here are proof that you’re still choosing healing, even through the storm. That is brave. 🌿🕊️

And please hear this too:
You wanting to give kindness back, to listen without judgement, to connect gently with others? That is a beautiful offering. You don’t have to carry shame for needing support when you’re also willing to share it. 🤝💗

You didn’t write “too much.” You wrote honestly.
And honesty is how connection begins.

I’m really glad you’re here.
I’m listening.
And you deserve support that meets you softly, without conditions. 💛✨

We’re holding space for you. You’re not alone in this moment anymore.
