♡ a little space for the heavy hearts ♡

somewhere between the hard days, the healing, and everything we carry... there's room for you here. 🤍

hi everyone! ♡

for those who don't know me yet, my name is Lex, and i'm a listener here on 7 Cups. i've been a listener for quite some time now, and honestly, being able to listen to others and offer a little bit of comfort during their difficult moments is something that means so much to me.

i've always loved being someone people can turn to when things feel overwhelming. there's something really special about being trusted with someone's thoughts, feelings, and experiences, especially the ones they might not feel comfortable sharing anywhere else.

my listening style is very much centered around empathy, patience, validation, and creating a space where people feel safe enough to be themselves. i don't believe every difficult feeling needs to be met with advice or a solution. sometimes people just need someone who will genuinely listen, understand, and remind them that their feelings matter.

i want people to know that they don't have to pretend to be okay with me. you don't have to have the perfect words, and you don't have to explain everything perfectly. you can simply show up as you are. whether you're having the hardest day of your life or just need someone to talk to about the little things, i'm happy to listen. 🫂

🧠 mental health is so much more than what people see

i think mental health is something that can be incredibly difficult to understand, especially when you're the one experiencing it.

sometimes people see mental health struggles as simply feeling sad, having a bad day, or needing to think more positively. but for so many of us, it's so much deeper than that.

mental health can affect almost every part of our lives. it can change the way we see ourselves, the way we interact with others, the things we enjoy, our motivation, our confidence, and even our ability to get through the simplest parts of the day.

sometimes it's waking up already feeling exhausted, even though you've done nothing but sleep. sometimes it's having a million thoughts running through your head while feeling completely numb at the same time. sometimes it's wanting to reach out to someone but not knowing what to say, or wanting to do something you love but feeling like you just don't have the energy anymore.

and sometimes, it's putting on a smile and carrying on with your day while quietly struggling with things nobody else knows about.

depression, especially, can be such a lonely experience. it can make the world feel a little quieter, a little heavier, and a little harder to navigate. things that once brought you happiness might suddenly feel meaningless. getting out of bed can feel like an accomplishment. replying to a message can feel overwhelming. even being around people you love can feel exhausting.

and the hardest part can be not understanding why you feel this way.

you might have things to be grateful for. you might have people who love you. you might have a life that looks perfectly fine from the outside. and yet, you still feel this heaviness that you can't quite explain.

i think it's important to remember that depression isn't something you can simply talk yourself out of. you aren't ungrateful for struggling, and you aren't weak for needing help.

other mental health conditions can bring their own difficult experiences, too. anxiety can make even the smallest things feel terrifying. trauma can leave you feeling unsafe long after something has happened. eating disorders can turn something as ordinary as eating into an exhausting battle. and conditions that affect emotional regulation can make feelings seem so intense that it's hard to know what to do with them.

sometimes we spend so much time trying to manage what's happening inside our minds that we forget how much energy it takes just to exist.

and i think that's something we don't talk about enough.

mental health struggles don't always look like falling apart. sometimes they look like trying your absolute hardest to hold everything together.

if that's you right now, i hope you know that your struggles are valid. you don't have to compare your pain to someone else's, and you don't have to wait until things become unbearable to deserve support. ♡

🕊️ grief... the kind of pain that doesn't follow a timeline

i also wanted to talk a little about grief, because i think grief is something that can be so incredibly difficult to navigate.

when we hear the word grief, we often think about losing someone we love. and while that is such a heartbreaking experience, grief can come from so many different places.

we can grieve people, relationships, friendships, opportunities, experiences, and even versions of ourselves.

we can grieve the life we thought we would have. we can grieve the things we never got to experience. we can grieve the person we were before something changed us.

and sometimes, we grieve things that other people don't even realize we've lost.

i think one of the hardest things about grief is that there isn't a timeline for it.

there isn't a certain number of weeks, months, or years after which you're supposed to be okay. there isn't a moment where you suddenly wake up and everything feels normal again.

sometimes grief feels quieter as time passes. sometimes it feels like you've learned how to carry it a little differently. and sometimes, out of nowhere, something reminds you of what you've lost, and suddenly you're right back in that moment again.

a song. a photograph. a familiar place. a date on the calendar. a memory you weren't expecting.

and suddenly, the feelings are there all over again.

i think people sometimes forget that grief doesn't always mean crying every day. sometimes grief is feeling numb. sometimes it's avoiding certain places or memories because they hurt too much. sometimes it's laughing at something and then feeling guilty because, for a moment, you forgot about what happened.

sometimes it's being happy and sad at the exact same time.

and sometimes it's simply wishing you could have one more moment with something or someone you've lost.

🤍 the things grief takes from us

i think grief can take so much more than people realize.

it can take our sense of safety. it can take our motivation, our energy, our confidence, and sometimes even our ability to recognize ourselves.

it can change the way we look at the world. it can make ordinary days feel different. it can make certain moments feel incomplete because there's someone, something, or some version of ourselves that we wish was still there.

sometimes grief takes away the excitement we once felt about the future. sometimes it makes it difficult to imagine a life that looks different from the one we had planned.

and sometimes, it takes pieces of us that we don't even know how to explain.

maybe you've lost someone and found that you're not quite the same person anymore. maybe you've experienced something that changed the way you trust people. maybe you've had to let go of a dream that once meant everything to you.

maybe you're grieving a version of yourself that felt happier, more confident, or more hopeful.

and perhaps the hardest part is that the world doesn't always stop for our grief.

life keeps moving. people continue with their routines. responsibilities don't disappear. and sometimes we feel like we're expected to keep going, even when a part of us is still trying to understand what happened.

we might feel pressure to be okay for other people. we might worry that we're taking too long to heal. we might even feel guilty for still being affected by something that happened a long time ago.

but grief isn't something you can rush.

you don't have to be over it by a certain date. you don't have to stop missing someone or something just because time has passed. and you don't have to pretend that you've moved on when you're still learning how to live with what you've lost.

healing doesn't mean forgetting. it doesn't mean that what happened no longer matters. and it certainly doesn't mean that you have to leave your feelings behind.

sometimes healing simply means learning how to carry the memories while slowly making room for life again.

and that takes time.

so much time, sometimes.

please remember that you're allowed to have good days while grieving. you're allowed to laugh, make memories, experience happiness, and look forward to things. none of those things mean that you've forgotten what you've lost.

and you're allowed to have difficult days, too.

you're allowed to miss someone. you're allowed to feel sad about the things that didn't happen. you're allowed to wish things had been different.

you don't have to apologize for the way grief shows up in your life. ♡

🌸 a little reminder for anyone who needs it

if you're struggling with your mental health, grieving something or someone, or simply trying to get through a difficult season of your life, i hope you know that you don't have to figure everything out today.

you don't have to be the strongest person in the room. you don't have to have everything together. you don't have to turn every difficult experience into a lesson or find the positive in everything that hurts.

sometimes things are just hard.

and sometimes, the kindest thing you can do for yourself is acknowledge that.

give yourself permission to feel what you're feeling. give yourself permission to take things slowly. give yourself permission to need support.

you deserve kindness on the days when you're doing well, and you deserve it just as much on the days when you're barely holding on.

💌 a little note from me to you

if you've made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read my little heart-to-heart. 🤍

i'd love to hear your thoughts, your experiences, or anything this post brought up for you. and if you'd rather keep things private, please know that my PMs are always open.

whether you need to talk about something heavy, have a difficult day, need a little reassurance, or simply want to say hi, you're always welcome to send me a message.

you don't need a big reason to reach out. you don't need to have the perfect words. and you don't need to wait until you're struggling the most.

sometimes a simple "hey, how are you?" can be the beginning of a really meaningful conversation. ♡

please take care of yourselves, friends. be gentle with your hearts, give yourself a little grace, and remember that even when things feel heavy, you deserve to be met with understanding, patience, and love.

sending each of you a little warmth today. 🫂

you don't have to be fully healed to deserve a little happiness. ♡

@LexListens2025

this was such a beautiful thing to read 🤍

Dalaa think sometimes we underestimate how much it means to have someone who genuinely listens without trying to fix everything or make our feelings smaller

grief and healing are such personal journeys and being reminded that we don’t have to rush either one is something a lot of us need to hear thank you for creating a space where people can feel safe enough to be themselves

but lex dalaa will never feel safe again sorry
