I am new & confused

You have probably figured it out by now! I am new too. What I have learned is to go to the top left and there is a tea cup click that. 

Then there are. two people right of center at the top. This is where I go mostly. 7 communities with their own forums. If you get on their list they will notify you when  theres a new post. Lots of other stuff that I don't know about chat rooms, listeners.

Click on the little leaves and choose a pathway. Read it everyday and grow from there.
