I mostly just read fiction.

Fantasy:

The mortal instruments (this is a really long series and chronologically does not go in time. If you want to read it in chronological order by timeline it is: Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, Clockwork Princess, Chain of Gold, Chain of Iron, Chain of Thorns, City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, The Red Scrolls of Magic, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost Souls, City of Heavenly Fire, The Lost Book of the White, Lady Midnight, Lord of Shadows, and Queen of Air and Darkness- Cassandra Claire) however in order to understand the way the world works it'd be easier to read the mortal instruments first but then again I prefer to go by time.

Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant- Veronica Ruth

The kill order, the fever code, the Maze Runner, Scorch Trials, Death cure, crank palace, and the maze cutter- James Dashner

The handmaids tale- Margot Atwood

The ballad of the songbird and snake, the hunger games, catching fire, and Mockingjay- Suzanne Collins

I'm sure I could think of more but my meds have me drugged so good luck. Also if your homophobic then don't read the fantasy books because there is LGBTQ+ representation.
