Q1) How did it feel to you when someone upvoted your post on 7cups?

It feels super nice, warm, seen, heard and acknowledged when people upvote my posts!

Q2) “Just taking time to read and leaving an upvote is a very generous deed.” What are your thoughts about it?

It is ofcourse a lovely thing to do, we pretty much not have to do anything extravagant to make someone feel *seen*, an upvote merely takes a second, but it counts. It counts, that someone indeed saw this post, read the words and in their own way, made one feel heard and acknowledged.

It takes alot to express ourselves, the least one can do, is *notice* ,I feel!

In simple words, it feels good. It feels good that yes someone read it. You feel heard and seen.

It is indeed a very generous deed, think about it this way, you write something in the forums and someone upvotes it, They read and think about you- 'they think about you' which is more than being heard and seen.

Upvoting to me sends me a message that someone has read my post, may have liked it in somehow, or wanted to support me in a small but impacting way - I feel (as mentioned here by others) that I’ve been acknowledged 🌻

It feels nice to share your thoughts, perspectives, feedback or stories/issues with people, and when it gets upvoted, I know that it’s been seen by others, others care and are engaging in it ✨

This may be what others feel as well, so I do upvote posts - to show them that they aren’t alone in their struggles/perspectives to something, to show that someone cares 😊

I agree with this quote - reading someones post shows interest and curiosity and leaving an upvote shows you agree and appreciate their thoughts 😊

@Fristo It shows that someone took the time to read. I feel heard and seen when something I wrote is up voted. Maybe they relate to what I wrote and they're showing support. Sometimes we may not have the right words to say to someone but being able to up vote shows that they were still seen and heard

I completely agree - when we read something someone wrote - we're giving them a piece of our time - giving someone your time is like the greatest gift you can give someone. It may not seem like much to give that up vote but it mean alot to receive - to be seen and heard

I cant really say much more than what i first said on seeing Roadie’s post…

Wise reflective words. It necessitates us to be 'in the moment' I think. We are busy, under pressure and often anxious people. All too often we just don't think we have enough time and take in what we can at a furious oft times confusing pace, �without stopping and being in the moment enough. So yes I agree, we should show we have been in the moment and upvote �what we liked, agreed with, found humorous and uplifting to our spirits.

It feels absolutely amazing to see when my posts are upvoted! It shows that users appreciate my posts, and acknowledge them in a positive way!

That quote definitely speaks the truth! It's just like giving a compliment to someone for wearing an awesome shirt or for making a huge milestone! It's amazing to see all the upvotes, because each one comes from a user who appreciates another and "compliments" them for the hard work they put into their post!

I learned a lot from Roadie! It's great to see this post be revived, it was such a great one!

1. I feel great to at least know that my post has been acknowledged! The time I spent writing something out and put out into the word was seen by at least one other!

2. I very much agree! it can help a lot just for someone to get that little bit of validation and it's not a difficult thing to do.

I have also learned from a member though to do this with a bit of caution, some members do get upset with an upvote with no responses. Upvotes are generous when given after paying attention to the post and being thoughtful if an upvote with no response is appropriate. They can also be combined with a response too 😊

Since we can't see who gives upvotes, I choose a tag by popping into the forums and finding an empathetic response - great job @Wassup3 ! Would love to hear your thoughts on upvotes.

I feel uplifted and happy that something I said resonated with someone enough that they decided to hit the upvote button.

I think that's true. Reading people's thoughts and leaving them upvotes encourages them to keep posting. It also makes them feel seen and heard and reassures them that what they said matters.
