Stop Caring What Others Think
When you’re over 35, do you find it easier to stop caring about what others think?
@jesusredeemedme2425
I never cared 😁
Yes yes, being older allows you to not sweat the small things.
To not waste time worrying.
My own opinion is what counts.
Life is too short to not spend time doing what you like.
People will always have opinions regardless, you cannot change that 💕💜

i wish I could say yes but this is a challenge for me. CHALLENGE!! Huge!!
Sending hugs. I get this.
Not 35 (24), but I find things more challenging as an adult because relationships feel more high risk.
For instance, if colleagues at work don't like me, I could be viewed as "not a team player" and more susceptible to layoffs. If my girlfriend and I are sharing finances there's more pressure to make things work, even in a bad situation, due to financial stresses that a break up might cause.
In highschool I never cared, because I didn't see any real consequences to people not liking me. Then adulthood hit pretty hard and suddenly likability matters. Maybe once I'm more settled into adulthood things will become easier.
I’ll reply to this thread in 19 years😅
I’ll rephrase this question for you then hehe
What makes you stop caring what people think, as a teen? <3
Sometimes nothing. Sometimes just projecting my own thoughts onto others. For example:
I didn’t notice the man in the corner of the bus. So if I didn’t notice him why would he notice me?
Almost the same if something embarrassing happens. I try to remember a situation where something embarrassing happened with another person and how I reacted to it. I didn’t care so why would they care?
Love ur name x
@jesusredeemedme2425 I'm barely over the age for this group but yeah, I stopped caring a while ago
@jesusredeemedme2425 But the truth is, one shouldn't have to wait until 35 to stop caring about what others think.
Somewhat at times I find myself caring just because I want to make sure that I'm showing up as my best self for anyone I connect with. Other times I'm like this is me flaws and all you either love it or you don't the choice is yours.
@jesusredeemedme2425. I think that it's important to stand up for yourself if you're faced with lies being said about you, BUT also keep grounded in knowing " well this is who I am. I have proof from those who genuinely like and care about me. And if you don't. Then I can't help you. " its kind of like taking their fire but not allowing them to have access to the person you are if that makes sense.
@amusingWest5360 and they may say well be yourself..no. you dont be anything to those who want to do hurtful things to u
@amusingWest5360 I may have gotten off track lol but that's what I think
@jesusredeemedme2425
Definitely... and now I feel foolish to have spent all that time in teens and 20s worrying about people lol.
How did the change come?
Positive experiences build up to tell you that the negative ones werent a reflection of you. People's behaviours werent meant to be taken personally.
Getting used to how society is. There will ALWAYS be people talking about everyone. No more shocks there.
So many other bigger problems are there to take care of - financial, health, family..... people nonsense automatically shifts to lower priority worry.
No.... my paranoia got worse with age
