50+ community Weekend Check-in Aug. 16-18, 2019

Hello, Ello, Hi everyone in the 50+ community, let's make this a great weekend! laugh

I know it's much easier to say than to do but, sometimes we are very busy, feel down, othertimes we are in pain and it's hard to focus on the positive. Having some ideas ready to improve the day can help a lot.

Now, my question today is:

enlightened Which weekend activity do you enjoy most and when will you do it again? If you can't do this one, what would be another one for this weekend?

I love hiking by a river and fly fishing its so quiet and peaceful I dont even care if I catch anything. If I cant do that just a nice long walk in the forest.

@LostanLonely

Heard that fishing is one of the most relaxing activities, it does not always count what you get but how it makes you feel in that time.

Forest walks are awesome.

Which weekend activity do you enjoy most and when will you do it again? If you can't do this one, what would be another one for this weekend?

What I enjoy most on a weekend is going hiking with my girlfriend. If we couldn't do that, I like walking around some of the small towns in our area.

Offmytrack, I like that attitude, if something does not work do something else but do it! Hope you will have many awesome walks with your gf.

I enjoy going out to eat on Saturday night. It's so nice to not cook for one night (even though I love cooking). We have different plans for this weekend, so maybe we can go out next Saturday.

@PhoenixArisen

As much as you love doing something it's good to have a break from it too once in a while. If ind going into restaurants give also new ideas for cooking, what about you?

Hope you had a great weekend.

The best thing for me and my wife to do on a weekend is go to a science fiction convention, mainly for the music and good conversations. The next one that we can both get to is in late January; my wife isn't really up for much travel these days.

In between, it's nice to go out for brunch together on Sunday. We've been doing that most weekends since before we were married.

@stressBear

When not feeling all that well travel becomes harder too, but great that you still can go sometimes and enjoy good chats with others.

That's a great "tradition", ( think by now it became it laugh), so good not to do anything on a Sunday but just get served and enjoy quality time with each other. yes

@amiablePeace77 It's definitely a tradition -- we've been married for 43 years! I don't remember exactly how long before that her mother started taking us out for brunch, but it was at least a year.

Being semi-retired and taking my "weekend" during the week, every day kind of blends in together with one another. But I enjoy taking the dog for a walk every morning. It is usually foggy and cool, so it is good walking weather. There are lots of birds: doves, pigeons, roadrunners, quail, sparrows, and mockingbirds. I get to see plants as they grow and flower. And occasionally there are smells that remind me of another time and another place.

@Kavajava

Sounds like an amazing walk which takes you to a different world and might even pay off for other harder things during the day.

I really enjoy going hiking in the mountains. Specially when the weather is great. It's soothing in a way and all that fresh air— ahh.

@morecake

Just the imagination walking up the mountain, looking down, feeling the silence, breathing in the fresh air gives me a good feeling too. smiley

it sounds a little mundane, but I'm looking forward to folding laundry. It's a simple task I can take time to sit down and do, listen to music or TV while I'm doing it. I see the chaotic pile of clothes and I can see the orderly results. In a time when most things seem rough, it's a good accomplishment.

MrCalidan, I find doing simple things particularly in hectic times can be very soothing, not mundane at all but I would almost say it can be " therapeutic".
