Changes to the 50+ Community + News!
Hello, everyone.
With the constant expansion and evolvement of our site and sub-communities, we always want to ensure that the voices of those who rely upon and interact with their various communities stay up to date on what is going on.
As many of you know @soulsings has been the longstanding Community Mentor Leader of the 50 & Over Community and has been a pivotal part in how far the community has grown and developed throughout the years. I would also like to thank soulsings, amiablePeace77, and the other team leaders that have worked for 5 years to grow the 50+ community from a subforum on the 35+ Subcom to what it is today, a vibrant community. However, as time passes, leaders often shift their attention to other onsite projects that they are involved in. Soulsings will be redirecting their efforts to the Therapy Subcommunity and that means that the role of Community Mentor Leader for 50 & Over will be vacant.
We are looking for serious and interested persons who can fully dedicate their time and efforts to maintain this community. Topics covered in the community but not limited to include wellness, positivity, exercise, menopause, old age, changes in life, and retirement. If you want to grow a community with upward potential, please send a message to www.7cups.com/@CheeryMango and we can start to explore that option together.
Lastly, 7cups continues to form partnerships with organizations in the US and around the world to increase the number of persons who can benefit from what we have to offer here. We are considering a rename the 50 & Over Community to offer more inclusivity and support to our older community. What do you think? Should 50 & Over stay with its current name or should it be renamed? If you think it should be renamed, what are some possible suggestions that you have in mind?

I would like to say just how grateful and blessed I am to be alive. I am so grateful and blessed that my husband is alive and my family are all ok too. Family and family moments are priceless.
I say keep it as is. This way people 50 and over know you can expect people of that age. Just leave tooo a open to anything. I think.

I think that maybe the new leader of the community should care about it and eventually ask people about any change, name included.
If Soulsings is leaving it's good to thank them but also leave everything in the new leader's hands. They will care how to organize things and what direction to give to the community, like it already happened with new leaders of different communities (Hobby Zone with MistyMagic 💜, just to name one).

Offering a most hearty congratulations to Soul Sings! I like 50+ but naturally I also like 60+ too! Issues of aging particularly interest me now as I approach facing retirement and some evolving abilities. I almost said declining, but now I understand slowing down has its charms!
I found the group today just because it was called 50 & Over, and at age 69 I was looking for a seniors group to share with. This does include troubles that all different age groups share but although new my opinion is the original name should stay.
Also, I was wondering how active is the group and do they have regular meetings of any kind?

The 50+room is not open all the time, like the other rooms.
Our room is only open when we have sessions.
We have open chat every Monday and Friday.
Monday it is at 6:30pm.
Friday it is at 6pm

@Kittenclaws I agree, it's my first day after signing up and I find "50 and over" much more clear to a new person than even 50+, which could refer to anything (50 points? 50 hearts?).
Age 50 is so different than being 65 plus. With that said how about something for us. I am feeling mental health issues are just not understood for us.
@amiablePeace77 thank you for stepping up and taking the CML position in fifty plus. Your years of hard work have been a great help to prepare you for this position. All the best to you.
