When looking at the list of my threads, ones I have subscribed to, or looking at the list of threads someone else made, what's the basis for their order?
@AffyAvo
I have a feeling the list of threads posted by you goes from oldest to most recent at the bottom.
For the subscription, I think it's based off of the date that you subscribed to the thread (so the ones you subscribed to recently are at the bottom of the list).
If anyone else can clarify or correct me feel free!
@tommy If that's how it's supposed to work, it's definitely not. The top handful with thread date and then most recent post date are like this
Oct 19, 2022 Oct 26, 2022
Sept 6, 2022 Sept 13, 2022
Dec 8, 2022 Dec 9, 2022
Nov 17, 2022 Nov 19, 2022
I have threads that should go back to 2015 and maybe even 2014. So these are no where close to the oldest, but I also have a number from 2023.
@AffyAvo
Aah sorry Affy you've just sparked my memory. I think they are currently updating or doing some work on the forum main page. Hopefully it resolves itself soon or @Jon7cups can clarify!
@tommy Ok thanks. Wasn't sure if there was organization I wasn't able to figure out or if it was a bug. If things are already being worked on, I can wait and see 😀
@Jon7Cups could you please answer that?
@AffyAvo to clarify, how do you look at a list of threads someone else made?
@theriverissinging
I imagine they used the URL and just changed the username at the end:
https://www.7cups.com/forum/search/?query=&screenname=tommy
e.g.
https://www.7cups.com/forum/search/?query=&screenname=theriverissinging
etc etc
omg i didn't realise that, so cool! thank you @tommy
Yes how can I become a friend in ADHD or other support group ?
@Teamworktohelp Are you looking to join communities? Each community has a join community option near the top, here is ADHD https://www.7cups.com/forum/adhd/
Hi I'm Donna,
I have anxiety disorder and depression, due to a lot of stressful situations in my life and health issues everything just took its toll.
It happened so unexpectedly and it's still very new and fresh to me, I'm trying to do everything I can to help myself feel better and back to my old self again.
I really want to make some new friends and meet some new people who may be going through the same or similar situations that I'm going through and I think that I could really benefit and learn from other people
@Dgirl27 Welcome Donna! We have anxiety and depression communities that yoou might be interested in and find others to connect with.
@tommy i want to post something but i’m not sure this is the right place, how do i know if it’s “trauma-enough” to go here?
@toastydoodler
I'm so sorry for the late reply, toasty. My notifications don't always work 🙁
Feel free to post anywhere you feel comfortable. As long as it abides by our forum guidelines it'll be fine! Forum leaders can always move it for you or recommend a better suited community if they feel it'd get better engagement elsewhere. If you'd like to chat more about it, drop me a message!
@tommy
Hello there,
i Wasn’t quite sure where to ask this question so I am putting it here. I am creating a survey for the community (gay man here myself) trying to get some feedback to see if folks would benefit from having a life coach. I’m currently enrolled in certification program and I want to offer this service. Even though we have come a long way, I still feel we are underrepresented and still have a gap in support services. My aim is to help bridge this gap. I struggled with shame for most of my life and that created some very self-limiting beliefs and I came through the other side with self-love and acceptance and things where I want to help.
Is it ok to post a survey here? I can provide a copy if you need. I won’t post without permission because I want to be respectful. Thank you!
@Selfcompassionistheantidote
Hi Self! 😊 ❤️
This is such a great question! Please be rest assured that you are not the first to ask something like this. I can understand the reasoning for wanting to create a survey.
My understanding is that how the platform operates is that we would first need to seek permission from a member of Administration. 7 cups is most careful and cautious with any of us being used as test subjects, guinea pigs, etc. with out pre-approval. Typically, any type of survey would need to be generated from 7 cups for any of us to contribute.
I will tag some others here on your behalf. Your interest in presenting a survey, so clearly, is coming from a helpful and good place. Those that I will tag are the "big hitters", the decision makers for such things on the platform.
Sorry if I missed anyone in a position of authority to respond to the post/agree to generating a survey......feel free to jump in!

*high fives* 😊 and *hugs* ❤️
How can I join a sub community? Is there a process?
@Lovetoconverse
Hey, so there are a few ways you can 'join' a community:
1. Simply enter a community of your choosing and engage in threads/discussions
2. Click the 'Join' button in the community. This will subscribe you to that specific community so when a forum leader highlights a thread within your community, it'll notify you of a featured thread

3. Join the community taglist - you can find a link to these in separate communities (on the 'about' tab) and joining instructions are explained within the post: here is an example. If you join a taglist, the leader will tag you (essentially notifying you) whenever a new thread is posted that you may be interested in. If you're struggling to find the taglist for your chosen community, let me know and I can find it for you 😊
Hope this helps!
@tommy, Hello! Yes, I have questions. I'm new to the site. Are there instructions on how to use the forums? I see people posting messages stating they are private and not to respond to them. How do you have a one on one conversation with someone? Is there a difference between replying to a message vs posting to the thread? Someone up voted a message I posted. What does that mean? How do you do that? Thank you for your time.
@Damaris62
Hey, thank you for your questions! And a huge welcome to 7 Cups!
I'm new to the site. Are there instructions on how to use the forums?
Here is our forum handbook that may have some guides that will help you settle in. If you have any suggestions for new guides, let me know and I can definitely put some together.
I see people posting messages stating they are private and not to respond to them. How do you have a one on one conversation with someone?
This seems to be an example of a Pen Pals thread. 7 Cups does not allow members to privately message other members and therefore many use group chats or the forums for communication. As a way to communicate, they create a thread in our Pen Pals community and request that no one other than the listed people reply to the thread. Click here for more of an explanation of the community.
As you are a member, you can contact listeners for emotional support, or use the group chat rooms to speak to listeners and members alike (click here for group chats currently open and press 'groups' at the top next to the chat button)
Is there a difference between replying to a message vs posting to the thread?
Your post here is a reply to the thread and I'm replying directly to your post. Replying to a message creates a little link which makes it easier to keep track of discussions. However, people will only be notified of new thread replies when they're tagged or if they've subscribed to the thread itself.
You can reply to someone directly by pressing 'reply' under their post.
Someone up voted a message I posted. What does that mean? How do you do that?
Upvoting is a great way of showing support to others! It's essentially a thumbs up, showing care/compassion. You can upvote someone's post by clicking the heart under their post or thread. These will also be seen in chatrooms/1-1 listener chats as you can upvote their chat replies too.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you need any more guidance 😊
@tommy, happy Saturday! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and provide the handbook. I will check it out.
@tommy, Hi again. The forum handbook is very helpful. Thanks, again, for providing the link to it.
How do I turn Noni off? I'm not interested in AI chat. Thanks.
@Damaris62
If you ignore her, she'll eventually stop messaging 😊
@tommy (lmaoooo Tommy😭😭😭 this has made me laugh out loud enough to spell it entirely hahah)
And yes true xD that does work for sometime till Noni randomly misses us again and messages again! @_@
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou @Damaris62
😭😭😭
I did just realise there is a way to disable her check-ins -> in account settings, scroll to the bottom and untick the 'Allow Noni Check-Ins' box:

Maybe that's the official way for getting Noni to stop messaging... but my way kinda works too 😏

@tommy, Awesome! Made the change in settings. Thank you!
How do u deal with loneliness
@mb9921 You can try the General Support community to see if people have tips, you're likely to get more responses there
Why didn’t my thread post?
